I’m here also… seems legit so far

If it isn’t, then some of us have wasted 20 years of our lives here.

Thank you for the greeting. I was a member of PSD since 2004. Didn't post much, but checked it out daily. Learned a lot there.

Feels weird being on a new forum site after 15+ years on PSD Cubs Forum. But sometimes change is good. Glad to now be a part of NSBB. Go Cubs! Also, glad to see a bunch of familiar faces from PSD on here now. Should be fun times ahead (hopefully 🤣 )

Welcome to everyone that's signed up in the past day or two.  I have to say it's been refreshing to see a bump in activity with the new posters arriving, and several of you have already made meaningful contributions to the board, very much appreciated.   I think you'll find lots of great insight from many NSBB posters as well.   NSBB was originally formed in 2003 as a hub for intelligent baseball discussion, breaking away from the ESPN and Cubs.com forums that were a repository for terrible overreactive comments.  The vibe of the forum has changed quite a bit over the years, particularly over the last 5 or so years when it became a group of 30 or so people who have been talking with each other for more than a decade and became a bit cliquey.  But the quality is still there, and I like to think the mission of quality baseball discussion is still there.

It's hilarious. I wonder how many forums were borne out of ESPN.com message boards. My first Twins site was a reaction to the ESPN boards being a trash fire (I founded BattleYourTailOff.com in 2005 or so). Brewer Fanatic (formerly BrewerFan.net) was founded in 2001 because people hated the ESPN boards.

Pretty sure PSD was borne out of the same muck

I found PSD after posting on the CBS.com sports forum and needed a more intelligent crowd.

I'm pretty sure GatewayRedbirds was borne not directly from ESPN boards but based on NSBB's own success.  So indirectly in this case.

Same problem but different source, it was to get away from the mess of the Post-Dispatch's CardsTalk message board.

Not sure, but we luckily have a pretty vibrant Bears base in the other Sports subforum here.

We just got some really good fans from PSD. It's gonna be a fun season and there's going to be a lot of activity in that forum.

Fortunately, nothing has changed in 20 years, so everything is exactly as it was then.

I hope that’s true. NSBB was amazing back in the 2000s. I lurked daily back then and I learned more about baseball here than anywhere else. Then I posted pretty regularly on PSD for nearly the last 10 years. Not sure if I want to keep positing much or not, but I figured I’d set up an account in case.

If NSBB is the same as it was back then I’m looking forward to watching this play out.

Bruce Miles no longer actively posts here, so YMMV.

Also, welcome back!

I just went to PSD to read any final posts and it has been replaced. 😞

I'm glad that we have a nice place to go.

Thanks.

Also thanks to 1908 for steering us in this direction.

I remember those days well with Bruce Miles popping in, Fred’s game threads, and everyone blaming CT. Meph had me convinced they needed to acquire Khalil Greene to solve the SS problem.

Is there still an “active topics” button here or do you need to check each sub forum to see where the conversations are happening?
