If I was a betting man, I'd take the over on Alcantara strikeouts today... also, can Mervis just get one day where he gets 2-3 plate appearances against a RH bum?

He gets Mikolas and Flaherty the next two days!

With Kyle about to have his 3rd rehab outing, Decent chance this is Wesneski's swan song for a little bit.  Probably good timing, he could stand to work on things at Iowa and get back to missing bats.

Game gonna be played?  Looks like pretty bad storms across the Midwest.

edit - guess the storms stay south of Chicago until later in the week.

The Marlins bullpen is pretty shredded right now.  Nardi and Floro are good to go, but everyone else today would either be their 3rd game in a row or 3rd in 4 days.  For the Cubs everyone but Keegan should presumably be in the table.

I see I mistyped Alcantara this morning. No, I’m not going to fix it.

You also got the date wrong

  • Brock Beauchamp changed the title to 5/7/23 Marlins (Alcantara) vs Cubs (Wesneski): 1:20pm Marquee

Hosmer back in there batting 5th. Seiya sitting is good. Wisdom sitting for the 2nd day in a row

I would hate to see Kyle replace Wesneski. I have little faith that Kyle would be any good right now (and maybe ever again). With a guy that relies on feel so much, I’d rather give him an extended period of time of not looking like ass before giving him the ball on the major league team.

I also wonder if we will want to go to a 6 man rotation or skip some of Steele’s starts at some point to keep his innings down. His career high was last year at 119 IP.

Not watching but see Mervis was out advancing on a single. See he’s trying to fill Rizzos shoes in all areas.

Good throw, fairly close play.  Didn't get a great jump, Amaya's single was a sawed off bloop and he cost himself on that first reaction trying to find the ball and then take off.
