I would be all for making the move, but I still think the Cubs are going to give him a lot more than 44 at bats before they pull the trigger, especially with the team playing well.

I know. I just hate seeing him in the lineup. Seems like a good clubhouse dude that the other players like so that will probably buy him some time.

What's the difference between him and Mervis over 40 games though?  I agree that Mervis is a better option (it's hard to be worse), but a quarter of the season is probably not even a 1 win difference between the two.  Especially if Mancini can get on track, that minimizes Hosmer's role even more.  Mervis will be here soon enough, but I don't think it's an urgent move yet at this point.
