A rundown on upcoming features

First things first, not sure when we will relaunch the site. It'll be on a weekend morning, probably in the second half of March. As we nail down a date, we'll announce it.

But I thought you might like a rundown of the cool stuff coming:

User Blogs: all users can start their own blog if they're so inclined.

40-man/Active Rosters: Updated automatically every night.

Prospect Tracker: This is perhaps our most popular feature. Stats updated nightly with articles and videos that have that player tagged.

Draft Tracker: Same as the prospect tracker but for draft picks.

Payroll Blueprint: This won't apply until the offseason but it's really cool. It allows you to build a roster, add commentary, and then it creates a thread with your name in the title for other users to discuss.

Then we have other stuff like dark mode, the ability to purchase a subscription for ad-free usage of the site, and a bunch of other stuff I'm surely forgetting while typing this (the current version of Twins Daily was launched about two years ago and I've kinda lost track of all the features I've added).

And if there are things you specifically want to see, please share. A user on Brewer Fanatic mentioned that it'd be nice if prospect voting was a drag-and-drop interface to speed up voting so we're going to roll that out some time in the next two months.

How do others feel about this? Frankly, I don't really care that much, the reason we don't have it enabled is because deleting posts has broken threads in the past as one user rage quits, usually after losing an argument badly.

We never really had issues like that in the past, and since the place where that seems most likely to happen (the social forum) is closed off to new people, seems like it makes sense to bring it back, if just to be able to delete accidental double posts.

Yeah AFAIK the main utility for deleting was accidental double posts or people essentially editing with a new post that obviated the one they just made.  Mods do have the ability to hide or delete posts so in the meantime if you ever want that you can ask, publicly or otherwise.

For some reason a ton of individual threads on the forum aren’t working for me including the 7/1 game thread. This is one of the few that does work. Any idea what’s going on?

Working on that right now, a software update borked a small number of threads and I'm not seeing how they're connected yet.

Brock would you mind to update the links in the first post to use the northsidebaseball.com domain instead of the  twinsdaily.com domain or provide new links? Easier than rewriting some of the URLs like:

For sure! By the way, almost all of this is listed under "Cubs Resources" on the forum index page (/forums/ page). It's right above the first set of forums.

It took me a while to remember that the full menu is only accessible through the hamburger. It isn't super obvious when there is also a "main menu" at the top center of the page.

Hamburger on the right is also super weird. Most navigation components are generally on the left of websites.

Yeah, I hope to sit down and re-think the menus this winter. I haven't found a way to show the various features of the site in a manner I find appealing and useful.

We commandeered an existing plugin and just made it work in a few hours but yeah, a logged-in user state should be pulling dark mode from the database. Something to think about.

I never paid attention to there being a full menu. Boy, that list of moderators under the Staff section sure is something. Most of those guys are dead now.
