This seems like it’s going to go poorly.

He also had a hilariously bad defensive possession last week against the Kings (I think) which under normal circumstances I’d brush off as it just being preseason except that type of thing is the norm for him now.

0% chance he last the year there.

Yeah, but how do they get rid of him? Nobody is taking on that deal.

Also, a reminder that the Pelicans get the Lakers pick in the next draft from the AD trade. I’m cheering for an implosion.

They’ll attach the two picks they refused to over the summer. 2027 and 2029 I think it is. Westbrook is an expiring so they’ll look at it like paying $20M or whatever the prorated will be for two picks.

And If nobody does take him they’ll just cut him if things are going poorly.

Pelicans up 25 at Brooklyn. Sharing the ball, rebounding, bench even looking great.

Ben Simmons is still Ben Simmons.

This seems fine.

The NBA would be infinitely more entertaining if quotes like this were real.

You’re saying that’s fake? Bummer.

And I had such high hopes for RealNBAQuotez.

Yeah, I wasn’t paying attention. These days, that quote wouldn’t have surprised me from a pro athlete.

Yeah there's an entire trend of twitter of these accounts tweeting out graphics like this with ridiculous quotes attributed to NBA players. Don't worry, major media outlets like ESPN have been duped by these accounts in the past.

Westbrook was 0-11 from the field yesterday including 0-6 from 3.

The Lakers chose him over keeping Caruso & signing DeRozan.

It really is a hilariously bad trade.

I can’t remember if it was a one or the other situation or if they could have had both but they nearly traded for Buddy Hield that year too in addition to the DeRozan deal.

Also I love how they fired Vogel for what happened last year but gave Rob Pelinka, who put together this shit sandwich of a team, an extension earlier this month. Spoiler alert: the coach wasn’t the issue, Rob. You are.

GM Lebron is the problem, no way Pelinka did any of these moves without Lebron approving/wanting/pushing for them.

I don't think LeBron has quite as much power/say as he did in the past. His first deal with the Lakers was guaranteed for 3 years I think with no opt outs. His recent extension is the same. When he was in Cleveland the second time he kept signing 2 year deals with an opt out after the first year. Plus his family is settled there. His oldest two kids are in HS and I'm sure he loves going to as many of their games as possible. That's not to say he's got very little to no say. Obviously he's got significant involvement. So we're probably both right to some extent.

Pelinka just hasn't done anything to earn the benefit of the doubt either so I can't just give him a pass.

i honestly feel bad for him

Why? He’s a shitty basketball player who is wildly overpaid and overvalued who thinks he’s so much better than he is and has never evolved to fit a system that can actually win games. Nothing he does is conducive to winning and he’s never adapted to be part of a winning team. He can get his numbers but they’re meaningless. He thinks he’s the best player on the floor at any time.
