I was pretty sure it was the plan already, but woo boy seeing that spending every 3rd year resetting the LT is explicitly and publicly part of the plan even in the best case scenarios is not great.

They potentially have a good deal of money coming off the books after this season so they may not need to reset while spending for top of the market talent either through trades of FA. But they rarely ever want to play in the deep end of the pool.

 

The thing that stood out to me was the comment about committing to long term contracts. I don’t agree with his logic but that’s a dead horse not worth beating.

I wonder if there's an opportunity to link up with the Phillies. Sending them some one of our many RHH 3B so that Bohm can slide across the field against LHP. Even something as small as getting out of Bote's contract.
