Bobby Hull died

Great hockey player, complete piece of horsefeathers person

Yup, and as you said below, it's really hot where he went

Big tank battle tonight. Hawks go down 0-2 early. Tie it up and take a 3-2 lead then horsefeathers the bed on a late power play and give back the lead with less than 3 to go. Facing another dumpster team this would be a big loss if they can pull it off

Think they can re-sign him after this year since he won't be traded? Obviously would need a much cheaper than his current $10M+ deal, but can you get him for $5-6 million? I honestly have no concept of hockey salaries right now, so that may be laughable.

I doubt anybody pays Toews $6 million unless it’s spread over 2 years

Sure sounds like this trade deadline is going to be a dud for the Blackhawks. Not going to lie I’m a little happy about the possibility of this whole blatant tank job blowing up in their faces.

Plus now they've won 5 straight to not only catch up to the rest of the league in points but actually dig themselves out of the cellar.

Is that good to bad.

Well, prior to this latest 21 game stretch, the Blackhawks were 8-30, a good 5+ games worse than any other team in the NHL. But now they've gone 13-8 over the last month, and have now passed Anaheim and Columbus in the standings.

It's still a draft lottery, but they went from 40% odds to like 20% odds in this streatch.

They can still collapse yet, but now there's 20 games left in the season and actually are in a competition with 5-6 other teams for the top spot.

McCabe has been one of their better defensemen, Lafferty was playing fairly well. If they trade Kane as expected, that will hurt the team too. They've got a chance to really up their tanking game after the trades go through.

While it's low, I'm not that surprised. They were the only team Kane was going to go to that was negotiating (there were rumors he'd be willing to go to Toronto, but they already used up their cap space). There was almost no leverage on the Blackhawks side to force a better deal, it was pretty much this or nothing.

I still expect them to re-sign Kane in the offseason.

Seems low

(hockey casual here)

It's what happens when the Blackhawks pledged to do right by Kane, who waited until there was months left on his contract and only allowed the Blackhawks to negotiate with one team starting a few days before the deadline.

I'm not necessarily ripping on Kane too hard here, he earned the right to have a no movement clause in his contract and believe he was genuinely torn between going to a contender and staying with one team his entire career...but Kane definitely could have done a few things that would have helped the Hawks get a higher return for him.
