Wasn't able to catch the first part of the game but Morel going 1/2 with a double and a walk off of Luis Castillo is encouraging as hell.

 

It's stupid early, but man if he can run even okay K and BB rates he does enough other stuff well for that to play in an everyday role

When my wife and I went to Chicago in 2014, I remember telling my wife Junior Lake wasn't any good. Then the third game we were at he hit two HRs in the game. Of course he only hit 17 HRs in his career so I was right, but in that moment, I looked quite dumb.

The walks he's already taken gives me hope. He's not just up there completely hacking. He's run several 0-2 counts full and gotten either a hit or walk out of it and almost did it again last night when he K'd to end the game.

I didn't realize there was a website that keeps track of all this data. In that data it shows that the Cubs are the 4th worst favored team in baseball this year, losing ~7.33 runs due to bad umpire calls. For comparison, the worst team is the Pirates at -8.92 and the best team is the Diamondbacks at +12.85
