I know Frazier has reverse splits for his career, but I still have a hard time buying that he's not a better DH option than our admittedly good backup catcher?

Plus there is always the small risk of losing the DH in the event of injury when your only backup catcher is the DH. It's probably not something a team wants to get into the habit of doing on a regular basis.

Ugh I’m not sure if I like that aggressive decision by Seiya or not

Pitcher is striking out 2/3 of the batters. Take the base, get into scoring decision and hope for a single. You're probably not getting two hits.

Smallish sample size, but Hermosillo has not shown anything offensively or defensively.

He did have a really nice AB yesterday with the bases loaded. Worked a 3-2 count and then hit a 103.5mph liner that had a .660 xBA but was caught by an OF. Given that the Cubs went out of their way to retain him from the Dodgers he’s going to get his shots I think

missed a long grand dong by a few feet foul in that AB too

Keegan has been great in this long relief role, but do we expect he'll end up back in the rotation at some point? I think I would rather have him in these semi high leverage piggyback spots a couple times a week.

Right now there are 6 guys in front of him in the pecking order, and they very easily could've lined him up to start the game Leiter did and chose to DFA Abbott to get Leiter up instead. Feels like they aren't in a hurry to get him a bunch of starts.

He had 67 IP last year, nothing in 2020 and 10 in 2019. So it probably seems smarter to keep him in this long relief type role like the Brewers used Peralta/Woodruff/Burnes when they first were up and how the Dodgers have used Urias/Stripling/May/Gonsolin. The 2-3 inning spirts once or twice a week seem more valuable then him being in the rotation and probably hitting an innings limit by July. This way they can use him as a weapon all year and still hit his innings and maybe even start him later in the year/have him available if they can make a playoff spot.
