I know the Bears aren't built to succeed this year and they'll probably finish last in the division, but I also think it would be the most Bears thing ever to somehow finish with 7-8 wins thanks to the easy schedule, not make the playoffs, and still not get a top 10 draft pick.

if they win 7-8 games because of Justin Fields I would care less about missing on a top 10 pick

I took the over on 6 wins for this season. I think we can get to 7 with Fields and this schedule.

Yeah over 6.5 is currently +150, and I hit that pretty hard. People are really sleeping on how easy this schedule is, and how even for very bad teams your assumption should be 5-7 wins. Like the Falcons and Commanders both won 7 games last year.

I think it’d be pretty chaotic to bring a Football Guy in to oversee a brand new Football Guys brain trust that he didn’t hire

the bears have never understood the order of operations

But also the order is fine because there basically doesn't exist a org chart in the entire league wherein a football Pres oversees a football GM, like fans imagine it.

Go figure out the top 5 sport stadium renos (regardless of league) in recent history and interview a top exec from each. That would be a great start for the Bears candidate list.

The secondary is going to be a lot better. Mack only played in 7 games last year and Hicks played in 9. That's a loss but is being overstated as it relates to last year's defense. Eberflus's defenses have shown to perform better than their talent would imply (yes, I know that's very scientific). The "everyone hustle to the ball" thing is going to matter.

I don't really care to put much effort into arguing about it, but if you want to wager on a top 10 DVOA finish, gentleman's or otherwise, I'd be happy to oblige :dontknow:

top 10?

$100

you're on.

i feel like i should suggest some injury protection but horsefeathers it lol

You can just give me $90 now and we’ll call it even.

Hey they were 7th after week 1. I’d hold off David and see how many more monsoons we play in before settling

Make it 99, this defense is soft and pathetic.

I’m inclined to do that but want to confirm beforehand does it stand for Don’t Vacate Opponents Accretion? Because I definitely think this team is top ten in that.

We need a fight club

Badly

If there is one thing that is disapointingly-declined more often than online gambling propositions, it's online fight propositions. I've been involved in multiple versions of both. None of them ever come to fruition, largely because the people proposing them are loud-mouthed blowhards with no intention of following through.

I suppose that's not especially uncommon.

I really don’t understand this sentiment, which is admittedly shared by many. This defense is incredibly mediocre. A 4-3 cover 2 defense without a legit 3 technique and no playmakers at any level is goi g to struggle. This would be like post Tommie Harris decline with no Urlacher or Tillman.

There’s been quite a few out there who see this defense as a house of cards. I think there’s way more downside than upside. Definitely a chance for bottom 3rd of the league, and with an offense that will not sustain long drives, these guys will be dragging by mid season.

The lesson in all of this is probably not to count on NFL coaching to scheme lesser players into something good. Talent wins out in the NFL.
