The more I think about this, there are a few things that are going on here with Nagy/QB for Sunday and most of them aren't good.

1. He knows Fields is starting and is just being coy about it. The game plan was installed for him to start and was built for Fields' strengths

2. He's genuinely not sure who is starting and thus has only developed one gameplan regardless of who starts, almost certainly something similar to last week because Dalton can't run an offense that is designed to fit Fields strengths (though you could argue the inverse is true too based on last week).

3. Because Nagy knows that Fields cannot effectively run the Dalton playbook, he has designed his game plan for Sunday and either Dalton or Foles will start because they can both run that offense and Fields will be the backup.

I don't see how you can have 2 separate game plans ready and have the team ready to go with each one. And maybe it's an overreaction to say Fields cant run a Dalton offense which involves staying in the pocket and making quick timing passes, but it's not his strength. It would be a disservice to start Fields and not give him the tools needed to succeed.

Nagy dicks around and thinks he’s playing chess, meanwhile every other coach in the league laugh at his antics playing checkers.

The game is won in the trenches - and unfortunately, Pace has failed to address the OL for multiple years. The DL is…OK. Mack is getting old and won’t return to form.

Nagy playing chess is moving the "horsey thing in an L" because it's cool to do.

The 2nd sentence I don't really agree with. I mean, yeah, he has never really addressed the OL in free agency, but he did use 3 top 75 picks on OL in his first 3 years. He didn't address the position for a couple years after the Daniels pick, but he added 2 of his first 3 picks this year on OL and then brought in a HOF LT (granted, well past his prime) when those guys got injured. The DL has been really good so far though, and Mack has looked amazing the last 2 weeks, especially.

Edit: now that I think about it, the knight's motion kinda resembles a curl route. 3 spaces out, then turn and sit there.

I guess the picks haven’t worked out well. That’s on Pace.

Drafting the tackle (can’t think of his name) with known back problems who then proceeds to have surgery and sit out the year hurts. Boren got hurt in game 1.

I think Mustipher was an UDFA who needs to develop. Hopefully Daniels can get back to form. Peters is past his prime but praying he’s got some gas left. Ifedi…I really don’t know if there’s an upside

Borom was hurt in camp as well. But yeah, the picks haven't been great for Pace. Grasu was horrible. Daniels is mediocre. But Whitehair was a solid pick. I'm going to give Jenkins a chance. The trade up was by far the worst thing about that pick. And Borom looks like he can actually start in this league in limited viewing. In Pace's tenure, the Bears have actually typically had 4/5 of their OL be homegrown. Of course, a lot of snaps have been used on 7th round picks and UDFAs (Leno, Mustipher, Coward, Bars). But virtually no money has been spent on the OL, outside of Massie and retaining their own guys.

Forecast calls for rain all afternoon.

Prediction that Nagy will implement the air attack game plan, once again outsmarting the opposition

Can't believe the Bears have killed my excitement for the best QB prospect they've ever had just 2 starts into his career. I have no excitement for the game today. I have no expectations. Honestly, if Fields wasn't playing, I'd just be watching the Titans today. I hope Fields shows what he did in the preseason against the league's worst pass defense, but I don't expect it and am certainly not predicting it. And it's not even because of him.

If Nagy continues to crap the bed, do we have any confidence he’d be fired midseason?

I think it's possible. Like if they just get embarrassed against Detroit, it could be as high as 50/50.

And no I don't care about what they've done in the past because every situation is unique.

Who would become the coach? Lazor?

I'm guessing Mike Pettine. He has experience as a HC. Though, I could see some value in seeing if Lazor or DeFilippo could run a team (especially if it happens this week) with 13 games to go, as there would still be time to turn things around in this season. And either of those guys could be potentially be a long-term hire if things go extremely well, while Pettine would certainly not ever be more than an interim.

I have a gut feeling this is our annual game where we score 40 points, and that it's enough of a laugher to buy Nagy til at least midseason.

I’d happy take that if Fields looks great

Only if Nagy relinquishes play calling. A Nagy coached team has put up 40+ points twice (2018 against the Bucs and last year against the Jaguars), but I don’t see it happening today with Fields.

Nice TD drive. Fields only attempted 2 short passes and one downfield that was nice but not thrown accurately but I’ll take it

I can’t watch the game yet, but do we know who is calling plays?

No obvious difference except maybe runs outside the tackle a little more
