Can someone sell me on protecting Kampf over Gaudette? I'm fine with all the other decisions they made. I just don't get this team's fascination with Kampf.

I'm really hoping (and I believe the Blackhawks are, too) that de Haan gets picked. I'd actually be relieved if they picked Zadorov so that we don't end up committing big money to such a one-way player. Losing Subban wouldn't hurt at all.

But with the information that came out about Gaudette's diagnosis/treatment of his stomach ailment that had limited him for years, I'd really like to find out what he can do when fully healthy. I think he's fairly easily the highest ceiling player we have exposed. Meanwhile, Kampf is a big bucket of meh.

Kampf is a symbol of the Hawks' struggle since 2015.

SI mocked Carpenter of all people to the Kraken

He carries a fair price for a bottom-sixer who can kill penalties and play multiple forward positions. A nice, safe choice with only a year of term commitment.

Seems like an odd choice. Makes me wonder if Seattle wanted someone else but worked out a side deal with the Hawks not to take that person.

Thats just a strange choice then. Maybe there is logic behind it for Seattle but Hawks fans have been stressing about the expansion draft for 2 years now and I don't think anyone brought his name up as a potential selection.

Some of the guys on their roster have to make under $1 million.

yeah and I just read that hes an UFA so they don't even need to roster him if they don't want to. Basically I'm reading that Seattle didnt care for what the Hawks left exposed so they took a flyer on a cheap tweener type of player.

New filings/allegations are horrifying, and, while being far from the worst part of all of this, the reports that the abused players were taunted by their Blackhawk teammates after the incidents leaves me feeling pretty sick about following that team obsessively for six or seven years.

Both have been reported. 8.25 would make me feel a lot better.

He was bad this past season, but so was the entire team

The 2022 firt rounder is only top 2 protected, then it becomes a 2023 unprotected 1st. Stan better be improving the team more or this could be disastrous.
