I should probably be less surprised than I am. He’s been solid at the AAA level for awhile (.808 OPS over 5 seasons) and was also solid in his only extended MLB stretch with the Cardinals in 2018 (.882 OPS over 58 PA).

He got some buzz at the alternate site last year too. He's probably just a short side platoon corner bat, but this is where Max Muncys and Luke Voits come from so no reason not to give him a continued shot.

Pitching matchup going in favored the Padres. Offensive lineup favored the Padres. This was not a game I thought the Cubs would win. Good effort all around save the unearned run.
