a big double play to get out of an inning is one of the most satisfying things in sports

pretty much the only thing I can remember from Games 3-4 of the World Series is Grimm getting that DP to keep the game scoreless

Can anyone explain replacing Schwarber with a worst version of him in Pederson? Will this [expletive] every get a hit as a Cub?

Really? If you look at the statistics they're almost identical in BA, OBP and SLG in fact, Schwarber' OPS is slightly higher.

117 wRC+ 12.9 fWAR (2525 PA)- Joc

113 wRC+ 9.6 fWAR (2108 PA)- Kyle

Joc is probably slightly better overall, makes a little more contact, and plays better defense. Either way, he is definitely not “a worse version” of Schwarber.

Yeah, I actually tend to think of Joc's deal as being *slightly* better than Schwarber at most things. Schwarber's dongs are going to be more majestic, and he has (with much more playing time) been less useless against lefties, but Joc's gonna win nearly every other comparison.

Thats kind of a huge deal. His approach changed.. I mean, he's put up fantastic numbers as the pull-heavy version, but over the last few years, it felt like he didn't even want to offer at most outside pitches unless he had 2 strikes, and then, it would be a very half-hearted swing. There is a massive gap over there that he needs to be taking advantage of a lot more often. There was clear intent and he was hunting in that area. Hope this is the start of something good this year for Bryant the oppo masher.
