Can’t imagine this guy is more than a lottery ticket/minor league filler but at least we got something and good for Duane. He should get plenty of opportunities in Pitt.

Don't know anything about the guy, but a 20-year-old 6'5" 245lb first baseman with what appears to be good plate patience and contact ability seems promising.

He'll be the new Rizzo (the old guy) when all of our 18-year-olds make the team.

Is this a guy that you have to worry about being taken? He hasn't even debuted in the states yet and I doubt he has a single bit of speed or defensive value (making him easier for someone to stash).

Fangraphs updated their Pirates Top Prospects list a few weeks ago and went 51 guys deep. Apostel was not listed, so....yeah

AZ Phil says he will be Rule 5 eligible.

How is a 20-year-old Rule 5 eligible? Was he signed at 15?

He turns 21 in April. He was signed in 2017. He only played in games in 2018 and 2019, but I'm assuming 2017 and 2020 count, which makes this year his fifth, which means he's rule 5 eligible in December.

Bummer but wishing him well. He should get a good shot out of the Bucs pen.

And this prospect is a large human. Maybe he'll pop like 30 homers this year and give us something to talk about. We don't have many big first base prospects in the system do we aside from Rivas?
