I think the best argument that Theo should have known this had happened was that a majority of guys have sent unwanted dick picks to women. That is based off of a sampling of sports-ancillary internet scandals and stand-up routines from females comedians. There is someone you work with, or someone next door to you, that has sent his dick pic to someone else without her consent. If this is the ugliest story to come out of the Theo camp, he should rush into the Dem primaries in 2024. Put him in the hall of fame twice. The man is a God-king and deserves our admiration.

Stop fostering a work environment with multiple dudes who are shitty and abusive towards women would have been a great place to start. I guess that's night impossible since apparently every dude has sent unwanted pics of their genitals, says the guy who is definitely not driving himself off of a cliff.

He COULD have done that. I'm 100% unsurprised that he didn't. Of COURSE it isn't nigh impossible. It's just totally unsurprising.

Hell, in that other thread about a guy's dick being shown to women who don't care to see it (because I'm not being sarcastic about its frequency), someone defended him by unironically asking who hasn't done something similar. And we're talking about the BOSS of a guy that did this, and we don't even know if it ever got back to him! You only answered one part of my two part question.

I don't care about your well-read copy of Robert's Rules of Order. There's no reason to defend the dude, especially in this area. He repeatedly made choices to bring people on board with known fucked up histories towards women, and the added problem with running things that way is that assholes like this get to skip out of town with a job recommendation at worst.

Insightful horsefeathers. Carry on.

At least in my eyes, it's just as much about how she didn't speak much English and wasn't from here. He 100% would not do this to a national sports reporter based in the US, they'd eat him for breakfast and have the support of the country doing it

Yeah, for someone to pass this off as little more than, "hey, what dude HASN'T done this" is repulsive. This guy abused his position of power to victimize someone else, and the people he worked for seemingly knew about it at least within short order, and did nothing but nudge him out the door on a path to get an even better job.

That isn't what I was doing.

I'm not too worried about Theo knowing explicitly. It sounds like the interpretor was a dead end and even in the bro-est of offices this isn't exactly the sort of thing that you bring up around your boss's boss's boss.

That said, Theo does have to own the culture. And there's not a ton of reason to give him the benefit of the doubt that this was a one-off and things were otherwise completely buttoned up.

this is basically how i feel about it and all i was trying to say

i know dudes that are creepy enough to do stuff like this but they wouldn't be outwardly bragging about it, especially not at work (and especially if it involved work contacts and 50+ unanswered texts). maybe i'm just naive. it just didn't add up to me as something someone would be telling a bunch of his coworkers about or that would be common knowledge at work.

Why even bother with SS?

How do know this wasn't the case. This was a 2 second act that could have been done regardless of the environment and easily done without anyone knowing. This isn't the copy guy walking past the women in the office without any pants on and high fiving the boss for the last 5 years. It shouldn't be tolerated in any way shape or form but taking giant leaps in logic isn't particularly constructive. Certainly if if you have other information you are privy to that speaks definitively to the work environment post away.

Yeah, shocker it's someone else trying to minimize this sort of thing.

https://chicago.suntimes.com/2021/1/19/22238551/jared-porter-mets-gm-fired-explicit-texts-cubs

According to the ESPN report, the reporter — who was assigned to cover the Cubs — told the network she received more than 60 unanswered text messages from Porter before receiving several explicit photos from him. The reporter, who came forward under the condition of anonymity, considered alerting the Cubs but decided against it for fear of retribution in the industry.

This horsefeathers is never just a one off thing with these types of creeps. It's always, always, a pattern of abuse and harassment. The reporter was assigned to cover the Cubs, someone within the org knew and tried to get Porter to offer some kind of apology, and the reporter was afraid to push it further because of fear of retribution. If that doesn't set off all kinds of screaming alarm bells about the environment of the Cubs' organization, then that's because the person hearing them is deciding to ignore them.

2 seconds to take a pic. The point being is that this is not something that would have been readily visible in the workplace - and may not even have taken place in the workplace - that only being relevant to the discussion that this act is definitively a comment on on the workplace environment. Again if someone has information that d!ck pic seminars were sponsored by the company then YES let the hell fires rain down and clean house.

And again, trying to minimize what he did like that serves no purpose, especially when these are the types of things typically done by people who feel they can get away with it, which is often due in no small part to the environment it happens in or because of. It's so horsefeathering far from a stretch to cast an eye at his workplace at the time since the reporter and Porter's interactions only happened because they were both working for or with the Cubs. It's a documented pattern of behavior that at least one other person in the Cubs organization knew about besides Porter and his victim. Someone knew, and still this guy only left the org on the path of rising to become a GM himself. The Cubs should be getting nothing but side-eye over this right now.

Much less a shocker than yet another post from who someone who desperately wants everyone to believe he understands but in actuality proves with each passing post that he is closer to 12th ring of Uranus than he is to anything approximating understanding.

Nobody is minimizing the act.

...is minimizing it. Someone within the org besides Porter and his victim knew about this. You acted like there was no information like this out there, as opposed it it being available for anyone to find in the multiple articles about it. Maybe look for those next time instead of worrying about the Cubs org getting an unfair shake for their umpteenth case of having an abuser on the payroll.

Discounting the fact that it absolutely takes anybody more than two seconds to decide to take a dick pick and then take thy pic and then select which pic is best and then send that pic way longer than 2 seconds, it wasn’t just the dick pic that was the problem here.
