Bulls are in an interesting spot. Obviously, looking like a potential playoff team and just 1/2 game out of the 4th seed in the East. But also obvious is that they likely aren't getting out of the 1st round of the playoffs as constructed. They have been on a great run without Lauri and Otto Porter. So, I would think those guys (one a UFA after the year, the other RFA) would definitely be on the trade block. But then there's guys like Thaddeus (Thadgic Johnson) Young, Tomas Satoransky, and Garrett Temple, who aren't going to be part of the Bulls going too much further in the future who could bring back some decent assets but are a HUGE part of the winning rotation right now.

They probably have to keep the latter 3 for a playoff run this year. But if they get an offer they can't refuse for any of them (or have to add them as part of a Markannen/Porter trade) then it's probably worth screwing up the rotation this year for long-term gain.

I think if GarPax were still in charge they would be without a doubt standing pat to try to squeeze out a playoff appearance. Im thinking AK and crew will take a more long term view and not let some success deviate them from their plans. That doesn't mean they will gut a team that has a lot of positive momentum and seems to be growing with a competent coach but I think if they can get some long term value for a piece that won't necessarily gut the team they will strongly consider it.

There's also a ton of value is giving these guys playoff experience. There's definitely value in not gutting the team around Zach LaVine to show him you can build around him. Thad and Sato make this really difficult though. The Bulls would likely pull the trigger if they can get a PG for Lauri, but that could cut down Sato's minutes or require Thad's salary to match depending on the PG they would get.

Yea, Lauri for a PG is way more up their alley.

They shouldn't need Thad or Sato for contract matching. They have plenty of contracts for that.

Thought Thad was a goner, but I’m seeing that less likely now. You’re at the point of needing to think about being competitive in order to keep Zach in a year, though money talks and we can offer the most. There’s definitely something to gain both in playoff experience and the external view of your team around the league by making the playoffs. Also, Thad is on a nice team-friendly deal for next year and you’ll probably get a late first for him at this point? Meh. You’re unlikely to find a star there.

I think the path is being competitive, playing well, and being viewed as a top destination around the league, like Brooklyn did 2 years ago.

Yup, if Zach wasn't apparently ascending as a player you could obviously make a strong sell-off argument.

As it stands, the least resistant path to relevance seems to be the FA/trade route to add existing stars rather than playing the lottery draft game.

3rd quarter started bad but ended well. 4th quarter was just awful all around. Gotta cut out the 4th quarter iso ball and turnovers.

Temple is also terrible.

1 deplorable loss and another where we got molly-whopped in the 4th. Both against elite teams, being at home didn't matter at all. We have basically 3 players capable of scoring, nobody capable of defending, no front court. AK better sell. There's no glory getting the 8th seed and getting destroyed.

Williams has played 53 minutes in these 2 games and has scored 7 points, making 2 3s and going 1/2 at the stripe, while bricking his other 8 shots, grabbed 3 rebounds, and has 2 steals and zero blocks.

Yeah he doesn’t really do much out there, does he? Bulls had no answer for the tough Miami D and the refs swallowing their whistles both ways.

They gotta do something about the starting 5. Maybe bench PW? They are just terrible together. And the start of the fourth quarter is always their downfall. By the time Lavine re-entered the lead was up to 10 or 11. Happens every time we play a tough team.

Trade everyone except Lavine or go get Drummond for next to nothing and see if he can help anchor your defense and work offensively. I’m done watching Wendell.

Coby and Wendell benched. Big fan of the move. You need to evaluate if Lauri can be a long term piece and that’s tough to do playing with those two and PW. Might also help PW’s development too.

bulls taded otto porter and wendell carter for nikola vucevic

How does NSBB feel about this trade? I don't follow the NBA that close these days.
