Not surprising here since Minnesota's team has been getting ravaged by COVID

This also essentially clinches the B1G West title for Northwestern.

Posted
In B1G East news, Michigan apparently has 'presumptive positives' that they're getting confirmed and Ohio State's outbreak from last week could wipe out the MSU game, removing them from B1G title game consideration - which could result in them playing Iowa or Wisconsin in the 'Champions Week' game instead of Northwestern.

This horsefeathering sucks. IU has maybe its best team of my lifetime and this happens. Feel bad for them and for Penix.

Sucks a lot, especially for Penix. His 3rd straight season ending injury, and his 2nd time tearing his left (I think) ACL. I really hope he can come back in 2021, but it's gotta be increasingly difficult with multiple major injuries to the same knee.

As for the team, I think they can be alright. Jack Tuttle takes over and he was the #4 or 5 pro-style QB recruit a couple years ago. He looked good in relief of Penix on Saturday. I think he can beat Wisconsin and Purdue to get them to a NY6.

ACC cancelling the ND/Wake Forest game scheduled for 12/12 and the Clemson/FSU game that could've been played 12/12, dropping ND, Clemson and Miami to 9 conference games.

ND is in the ACC title game 12/19 and Clemson will clinch its spot by beating Va Tech on Saturday. Miami gets in if the Hokies somehow pull the upset and they beat Duke Saturday and then North Carolina next week.

As an Aggie that loathes Notre Dame I'm not 100% sure I should root for ND to beat Clemson again. If A&M wins out and that happens I would think we have to make the playoff. But If Clemson smacks them around in their last game of the season I would think we still have a good chance getting in. A late loss combined with their signature win coming against a Clemson team that was missing Trevor Lawrence will weaken their argument. I just hope Florida finishes strong since that is our big win. And I also wonder if Alabama would make the CFP if they lose to Florida in the SEC championship game. I have to think they would especially since they beat us early in the season. But the Aggie in me knows that we are either going to lose a game down the stretch that we should win or if we win out something will happen to keep us one spot out of the playoff. Lol.

A lot of unknowns still, but I can guarantee Alabama is going to be in the playoff even if they lose to Florida. Rooting for the Tide is priority #1 for anyone on the bubble (which includes a potential one-loss ND as well).

This doesn't make sense. At least one of ND or Clemson will make the playoff(barring something screwy like each team losing their remaining reg season games). I also can't imagine you'd rather face Clemson with Lawrence than Notre Dame in a playoff.

Not even thinking about potential opponents. Making the playoff would be new ground for A&M so that's where my mind is at the moment. No matter who you play it's going to be a tough opponent.

But Clemson beating Notre Dame is the only possible way those teams take 2 spots in the playoffs.

BAMA is in. Ohio St is in. If BAMA beats Florida, that opens up a slot. If Notre Dame beats Clemson I have to think the Aggies absolutely have a shot but I’ll bet the the ACC gets two teams if Clemson wins.

FWIW, I think Florida can beat BAMA which means two SEC teams.

Ohio State is in danger of not playing enough games to qualify for the Big Ten championship game, no?

They also have to *ahem* win that championship game.

Some rumblings that this wasn't about Covid. Vanderbilt had a mutiny apparently. Guess they weren't fans of the goalie being their kicker and/or their coach being fired. Whatever

Too bad. The performance on the field might suffer from that sort of thing.

We finally beat Bucky! Last 3 times IU and Wisconsin have played it has been 45-17, 51-3 and 62-14.

I read Wisconsin was a 13.5 point favorite, but I didn't have much doubt of a Hoosier win, even when it got close late.

Michigan is going to get us in the Big Ten championship game!

It's officially on.

hey if we can somehow pull this off, i'll count this as a win over OSU on Harbaugh's record

Speaking of, rumor is Harbaugh is getting an extension. As I’ve said before, I’m honestly fine with it especially if it’s a 2-3 year extension. This will lock in our 5 star QB, but not a long commitment so if Harbaugh still looks lifeless, can’t beat OSU and fails to develop another talented QB you can cut bait early.

As I’ve said before I could go either way on Harbaugh. I do realize why most want him gone and maybe were settling for less than elite by keeping him but the grass isn’t always greener
