It was all so familiar. The offense no-showed. Kershaw came up short. Roberts pushed the wrong button. The relievers demonstrated how unreliable all of Roberts’ choices were. If you have watched Dodgers baseball over the years, you’ve seen this before.

To reach the postseason eight years in a row is a stunning achievement. To expire for similar reasons each autumn is stunning for different reasons.

Shocking how familiar that would sound if you just changed the names.

Kershaw has the highest ERA in history of any pitcher with 100+ playoff IP. Just nuts how hittable he becomes.

What's crazy is that the only real difference between Kershaw's career numbers and postseason numbers is his HR rate, which is double.

I remember reading a few years back that for a pitcher of his caliber Kershaw throws a shocking number of pitches right down the middle. Yet for whatever reason hitters don't do much damage. I wonder if with the more extensive prep and gameplanning for playoff games hitters are more properly cranking those pitches.

Extra prep and game planning wouldn’t seem to apply to these playoffs anyway.

the dodgers are a constant reminder of how big it was that the cubs got it done early in their window

*insert “waves and waves” joke here*

But yeah, I was thinking this the other day. Funny how others caught up to Theo as quickly as they did.

So stagnant not winning every year. So hard to get motivated to get over the final hurdle.

Now we know why the Cubs have struggled offensively after 2016(and during at times) just hard to get motivated after donging the horsefeathers out of the Cardinals in 2015.

Really curious where the Astros go from here. They're losing a lot of talent this winter, and on top of that have $90M tied up in just Verlander, Greinke, and Altuve next year. But at the same time Bregman, Alvarez, Tucker, and Valdez is a really good young cheap core to build off of.
