It's a fleecing in my opinion. Who was Seattle bidding against anyway?

Uhhh, the Niners? Cardinals? Carroll, for all his past transgressions, is not an idiot

Hes certainly not, I agree. I just don't think this dude was worth that haul. FWIW I've seen tweets where apparently several execs feel like it was a fleecing as well.

Also I doubt Arizona would want to contend with that type of offer after trading a 2 and a 4 for Hopkins.

49ers, possibly.

Ive also seen mention where they felt like he was bidding against himself as well.

I meant he made the trade to keep up with the 9’rs and Cardinals, not nec that they would have made a trade for him. The Seahawks are still in win-now mode with Russel, but those other two teams have eclipsed them. Carroll probably felt like he had to get a stud rb to keep up, so he overpaid.

Saints GM Micky Loomis is a salary cap wizard. Sorta glad this didn’t pan out, though.

Making a final push late Saturday to land star pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney, the Saints got creative, attempting to pull off a move believed to be the first of its kind in NFL history – but couldn’t get final clearance from the league.

According to sources informed of the talks, the Saints didn’t feel they could compete financially with the Titans’ offer – $12 million, plus $3 million in incentives – given budgetary reasons. So, they approached another team to find a workaround.

The sides discussed parameters of a deal in which Team X would’ve signed Clowney to a one-year, $15 million contract and paid him a $5 million signing bonus. Then, Team X would’ve immediately traded Clowney to the Saints, who would’ve sent Team X a second-round draft pick, as well as a player to take additional salary off New Orleans’ books. The Saints would’ve paid Clowney’s remaining $10 million salary.

I'm not sure why "essentially buying" a draft pick was fine when the Browns traded for Brock Osweiler but not here. I guess it's more blatant, but still.

That was an actual trade of a player under contract with another team. This was a free agent, that a team would sign with no intention of keeping him. That being said, I would have love to seen this move go through just to see the ripple effect. But I'm good with him being on the Titans.

Is Washington Football Team going to play the season as Washington Football Team or are they going to show up on Sunday with a surprise team name/logo?

Also kind of weird that the NFL hasn't released this seasons sideline hats yet. Maybe it's a Covid related production issue.

I thought they announced that they are taking this season to decide on the name, so WFT is it for 2020-21

I think its already confirmed that they are playing the season as the Washington Football Team. I think they are working through copyright issues with whatever their new name is going to be. Really weird that they are selling "Washington Football Team" merchandise though.
