That Rizzo at bat is what defines this offense the last 2 years. #3 hitter. 3-1 count. Man on 3rd. Less than 2 outs. FAILS to get the run in. And that is why this team, as currently constructed, will never be a consistently dominant team like the Astros and Dodgers.

Not their pitching? Just that one type of at-bat?

 

Weird. I was pretty sure it was the pitching.

I know he almost certainly wouldn't sustain this over a full season and I know he's not a great defender but it's going to be a sad day if Nick signs somewhere else this off-season.

I know he almost certainly wouldn't sustain this over a full season and I know he's not a great defender but it's going to be a sad day if Nick signs somewhere else this off-season.

I feel pretty confident we are gonna bring him back, even with this run he’s not going to get anything crazy. The overall value is still capped around a ~3 win player.

7 in the 9th and the Nats walk it off. It’s just not going to break our way this year.

That's a ridiculous loss for the Mets but I find it hard to get too worked up about whether we have to face Scherzer in Chicago or Washington.

Last year had the best record in the NL all year and didn't make the playoffs after losing in the play in game.. Maybe this year getting in the play in game as the road team things will break differently

Fair. It just seems like we would have a fighting chance at Wrigley based on the giant home/road discrepancy. However if they’re even going to make that game I suppose the road record will be improved by that point.
