Will Smith or Joe Jimenez please, if the Giants and Tigers are scouring our system, no thanks on Shane Greene. Good to hear we are seemingly already looking to make moves. Also keep sucking As and Nats so maybe Treinen and Doolittle become available.

Yeah Allen Webster's days are numbered. I'd like to see some guys in Iowa like Mekkes, Mills or Wick but I wouldn't mind an established piece either. Intrigued by Barraclaugh as a cheaper option if the Nats keep sucking. Also liked Tony Watson on the Giants awhile. Maybe a Melancon for Chatwood deal could be struck.

I liked it better when I didn’t know who Kyle Ryan and Allen Webster were. Make that happen again, Theo.

I actually don't hate Kyle Ryan.

Kyle Ryan has been really good this year, save for the most recent appearance or two.

Also, you were saying about Cedeno?

The Cubs have activated left-hander Xavier Cedeno from the injured list to make his 2019 debut, per MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian (via Twitter). In a corresponding move, right-hander Allen Webster takes Cedeno’s slot on the injured list with radial nerve inflammation in his throwing arm.

Yeah so are we just gonna wait two weeks and sign Kimbrel? Because we really should do something about this pen.

it's going to be funny when he signs somewhere else for like 1 year 17 million

What a flucking disaster. Every damn game the bullpen costs us now counts just as much as one in October.

For a GM as generally smart as he is, Theo has been astonishingly bad at constructing a bullpen. Even the WS team needed a lopsided rental trade to hang on, and at that Joe was basically using a 1-man bullpen by the end. Sure Ricketts' cheapness was a huge problem this offseason, but Theo has had ample chances to alleviate the problem and never done it.

How many games has the bullpen blown so far this season?

They have 11 blown saves, which is tops in the league. That number is obviously not 1 to 1, as they had two blown saves just yesterday. Looking at win probability added, they're 20th in the league. If you look at FG's Meltdowns statistic, which is basically blown saves without all the arbitrary rules about what is a save opportunity, they're tied for 8th most in the league.

On the whole, the pen's been more mediocre than bad. They had the nightmare week to open the season, and they've had a nightmare past ~10 days, and in between they were pretty fantastic. With how gassed the pen is right now though, and with only 1 off day the next few weeks, I'd guess this current bad stretch is going to last a bit longer and drag those numbers down more.

I imagine we see two relievers brought in this summer. A brand name closer around the deadline and someone akin to Jesse Chavez (where they think they've found a hidden gem) in the next month or so.

Yeah, while I like some of the depth we have and the intriguing guys in Iowa, none of them should be relied heavily on. I had no clue that we'd be giving major innings to Kyle Ryan, Tim Collins and Allen Webster. We need to address this sooner rather than later.

They better sign someone good (closer or not) well before the horsefeathering deadline or it won’t matter.

It’s pretty great that the team is still suffering from Maddon’s “let Strop hit” stunt last season

How so?

I've read reports that his current injury is still lingering from when he hurt it running to first last year

He hurt his other hamstring this time vs the one he hurt last year, I’m nearly certain. He also hurt this currently hurt hamstring in spring, iirc.
