I’m just saying in terms of people thinking LaStella is this great pinch hitter, Heyward has done what he does as a PH. It’s not like we lost anything for the people who put weight in to LaStella’s pinch hitting being a skill if freaking Heyward can do what he does/did.*

*I’m pretty certain PH really isn’t a skill. We’re talking small samples and in the end good hitters will hit regardless of situation and bad hitters won’t over the long haul.

Twitter, I know, is freaking out how valuable LaStella is for being a PH and how it’s a loss. I saw that Heyward nugget and thought it was a little interesting that LaStella has this great tool that bum ass Heyward also has.

To be fair, I just wanted the "who are you talking to" part of the gif, but couldn't find it. I know what you're saying, but I think everyone here is pretty much in agreement that he is incredibly replaceable.

Tommy's overall numbers as a Cub.

597 PA, 62 R, 9 HR, 63 RBI, 2 SB, .273/.356/.397

He was basically a league-average hitter despite the pinch-hitting penalty. So he might do just a bit better in Anaheim while playing slightly below-average defense.

He could string together a few nice seasons and put up 2-3 fWAR pretty easily. Or he could be out of baseball in two years. Given his history with the Cubs, I'm hoping its the former.

Yeah...he does the radio highlights at the end of the game threads.

He’s 26, but had some good K numbers in AA/AAA last year (first time in AAA). Seems to be a little wild though. Throw him in the Iowa shuttle bin I guess.

Worth noting, Lillis-White spent his AAA time at Salt Lake, which has Coors-ian park factors. Even when you include his time in Mobile/AA:

Home: 35.1 IP, 5.09 ERA, .753 OPS against, 35 H, 50/20 K/BB, 4 HR

Away: 36.2 IP, 1.96 ERA, .539 OPS against, 27 H, 48/12 K/BB, 2 HR

His whole-season numbers are also impacted by a single outing where they left him to mop up a game and he gave up 6 runs in 1.2 IP. After that April outing: 66 IP, 3.00 ERA, .613 OPS against, 51 H, 92/28 K/BB, 6 HR

I assume he was Rule 5 eligible and they had to wait until after the draft to make sure he made it through.
