So 2 rotation players out, down by 20+, 2 guys in foul trouble and the guy the Bulls sold as NBA ready (Hutchison) hasn’t even entered the game?

Portis looked good tonight. He could be a nice trade piece or part of a larger trade. Kinda wished the Bulls had signed him to an extension. The 2019 draft class sucks so contenders will be offering their pick.

His gf had a kid

He's been equally unimpressive in Summer League and Pre Season.

pretty damn on point. I wish I could be excited about the young guys on the team but I just feel like there is no overall direction so its hard for me to turn the games on. Maybe I'm just older and don't have more time for crap teams, but the post-Jordan years I ate up the rebuild, obsessed over the young talent and imagined how good they would be and then the 04-05 team happened which is one of my favorite non-contending sports teams ever. This time around my thought is 'wake me up when they're competitive again'

yeah, I think it's all of that for me too. I loved the 04-05 team, and also the Rose MVP team -- probably my two favorite non-title teams in any sport. But I think a large part of that had to do with how awful the Bulls were from 99-05, coupled with how young we were. And then the Rose MVP team was just fun because I was sucked into thinking that they were actually a legitimate contender.

Let's say the Bulls tank for another couple of years and then end up as a 4 or a 5 seed three years from now. There's not a chance in hell I'd be as excited as I was back in the 04-05 season. Especially with the same brass presiding over this organization for the last 15 years and counting. If they don't end up even contending for any of the top FA's in the summer this year, I have honestly no idea wtf this team's plan is going forward for the foreseeable future. That's a problem. And everyone knows that Reinsdorf isn't going to fire anyone either, so status quo is just going to continue to reign.

Game 1 Jabari's defense single handedly decided the game. Holy horsefeathers, he's awful lol.

Honestly, it's on Hoiberg. You can't have Parker in the game late defensively.

And yeah, LaVine may not play D, but he's a legit scorer. He's going to be so fun to watch this year.

Yeah that was a sweet 3 he made there at the end.

That said Parker, Portis and LaVine might be 3 of the 10 worst defenders in the NBA. Hopefully Dunn coming back will stabilize things a little

if they're going to lose, losing in shootouts is more fun than getting your teeth kicked in.

Can't wait to get Lauri back.

Lauri too, in 15 games or so. Honestly, a starting 5 of Dunn, LaVine, Holiday, Lauri, and Carter is decent enough on the defensive side. LaVine can be helped out enough, with THAT group.

The second unit though...... Holy horsefeathers. Jabari, Portis, Denzel once he's back, and Lopez-who I swear lost 3 steps over the offseason..... That's where the Bulls are going to be God awful this year......

I guess staggering substitutions, like they've been doing, is about their only option.

But, I'm really looking forward to seeing that first group of 5 together.

Zach is insane right now, just draining everything he's tossing up

everything the Mavs are tossing up is going in too though

LaVine is playing like a man on a mission. He's been outstanding so far. I think he's even committed to playing hard on defense.

I want the Bulls to lose a lot this year. We need another high draft pick and to get lucky in the lottery. I know Bulls management wants to win this year, but that's a mistake.

We need to collect assets and draft picks to swing a big trade for a star player down the road. I doubt we'll be signing one anytime soon unless Jimmy really wants to come back (doubt it). Not sure I even want Jimmy back at this point.

Looking at some early season numbers, its like the NBA is back to the mid-80s again. There are 9 teams that are allowing 120 ppg or more so far. The Bulls are averaging 111 ppg offensively and that's only good enough for 17th in the league. Insane.
