How come the Pirates are able to tack on insurance runs every inning while the Cubs can’t score any runs at all?

The offense has been atrocious or inconsistent since the break. That’s how.

Is that .707 team OPS since the break bad?

Brewers have scored their last 3 runs over two innings with one hit.

Remember when the Cubs used to work the count night after night. Yep, good things happens when your team gets on base a lot due to BBs.

These games where the offense doesn’t score are infuriating, but in all honesty the vast majority of the of frustration is with the Cardinals and Brewers winning so many games. And knowing that if a whole pile of things hadn’t gone wrong for the Cubs, we would have popped champagne a week ago.

However, stepping back and recognizing where the Cubs are right now given all of that... Hard to be upset with the team.

Probably more to do with Almora, Caratini and Russell playing so much in the 2nd half and Javy to a lesser extent since he’s playing a little more than past years and should be but isn’t walking while Bryant, Schwarber, And Heyward all missed time.

So they're walking less, but at least they're also hitting for way less power too.

horsefeathers the Cardinals, Go Brewers

This makes no sense

If the Cubs blow the division, it's more than likely their own doing. I don't want to see the Cardinals in the playoffs.

Well “blowing the division” takes the Brewers winning, so let’s not cheer for that to happen
