Oh well. Series win, the guys got rest and bullpen guys that matter are in good shape for the weekend. KB is back tomorrow or Friday and we get some bullpen arms up Saturday to help mitigate using the good guys if the game isn’t close and we went 7-2 in this Tigers, Reds, Mets stretch which is more than you can expect.

Can't disagree with this take. Hopefully, the bats come back from this stinker of a game on the road trip

Why don't we just release Kintzler? He's not making the postseason roster and I doubt we'll use him much next month except for cleanup duty. I'm sure we can trade for a better reliever.

Definitely. This one is annoying but 7-2 in this stretch is more than acceptable.

Still hate games like this when the bats are silent against bad pitching. I can take a loss, but not when we didn't put up much of a fight.

Probably because he'll just be used for mopup duty. Isn't there still a year left on his contract too? They'll probably just pitch him in low leverage spots for the rest of the year and hope he can figure it out next year before the season starts -- although I'm not really optimistic with a guy that has looked as hittable as he has.

They took a flyer on him, it didn't work. It's getting close to cut and run territory, because the man is a walking gas can

he's a gas can that has a 5 million dollar player option next year

I'm shocked that the lineup that Joe joked about yesterday has only put up 1 run on 4 hits against garbage pitching.

Used our worst pitchers too tbh.

really should have done the the forfeit lineup in Atlanta, rest the guys between two flights, against an ace when we have our 6 starter coming off the DL

Totally agree. We get Nola now too. This is going to be a brutal stretch.

brutal is an exaggeration. it's a long trip against solid teams, but they also aren't playing any legitimately good teams other than the 1 in atlanta.

Remind me to never, not even a little bit, buy into a ground-ball pitcher that doesn't strike hitters out because our infield defense might benefit them. horsefeathers that noise; bring me K's.

My definition of brutal is a combination of number of cities, number of games without an off day, and potential solid pitching against us. We are playing well and should perform just fine but this will be a grind.

In 48 hours or so they'll not only have an MVP caliber player back(giving them 10 quality players for 7 positions), and they can have like a 12 man bullpen. They'll still have some middle innings risk by having a few more innings eaten up by the likes of Rosario or Maples, but on the whole it's pretty tolerable, especially compared to a similar stretch that doesn't come in September. Montgomery re-enters the rotation tonight too.
