is it wrong that i'm a little annoyed that this is being put on the same plane as chapman by some? what that guy did is so much worse to me than an idiot who probably hasn't received much education on the matter having a shitty opinion. at least he can be educated out of his dumb opinion and evolve, possibly.

he is generally loathsome but it's being kind of overlooked here that he was top 10 offensive player in baseball for the previous 2 seasons

 

and is red hot right now, and rarely strikes out. he just makes our defense sooo much worse.

 

We are just going to have to hope in that regard, but I think it's worth it for the offensive upgrade and for the fact that when we have late leads, we can still close it down with awesome defensive replacements.

 

As far as rarely striking out, I happened to be watching one of his at-bats the other day against the Cardinals, and he refused to strike out. Worked the count, fouled off some pitches and then got a single. I think that will play for us.

baseball wise this is fine, you don't absolutely need it since Happ and Zobrist aren't horrific infielders(even La Stella if you think he can turn it around), but a high contact hitter of Murphy's pedigree for a non-prospect is only going to help the cause

 

politics wise it's good that Murphy appears to have made some progress since his original opinions, but Cubs fans hurt by those opinions don't owe him forgiveness and it sucks they have to deal with that dissonance now.

Also, even though it makes perfect sense, it's kind of funny that the week Darvish probably becomes toast and Quintana continues to look like ass (granted, less bad in his last start) and we seem to desperately need a 4th playoff starter that we go trade for another bat.

Yeah that really shouldn’t even be one of the options. If they DL Russell (they should) he’d be back when rosters expand and that seems like the best move to preserve the most depth with KB still uncertain.
