Happ is a .670 OPS vs lefties this year. Caratini is .574.

 

I don’t think anyone would have minded if they let Happ hit and PH Almora for the pitcher. But like someone else said, he basically picked Caratini to bat over Happ.

Yeah but Caratini’s sample size is like 20 PA. He had an OPS over 1.000 in an equally small sample size last year. With that little to go off of you have to assume normal platoon splits are the way to go

I guess, but Almora's contact ability is more valuable the earlier you use him there, meaning with less than two outs.
