The distributors insist on forcing cable providers to add single channel stations to basic cable? The Cubs network won’t be available a la carte according to Phil Rosenthal. I don’t see how that benefits Sinclair, considering what happened to Dodger games in recent years.

Ad revenue to Sinclair is likely far greater than any monthly licensing fees they'd pick up from an a la carte model, especially since some of those fees would go to distributors like Comcast anyway.

 

By pushing to get onto basic cable, they're assured of a much larger audience and can therefore get higher prices for ad slots.

Yep. The companies making money from the Dodger deal (outside of the Dodgers) are the vpn guys. Most LA fans I know out here just use that with the MLB stream.
