I don’t want to alarm anyone but Jarlin Garcia leads the NL in ERA.

Yep and he already has pitched 6 innings of 1 hit, 0 ER ball against the Cubs this year.

4 of the last 6 Cubs playoff teams had a record of exactly 16-15 through 31 games. The other 2 teams had records of 25-6 (2016) and 18-13 (2008)

10 of our next 14 games are versus epically lowly teams. I suspect that by mid month, everyone will be happy again. If not, it might be time to spend the rest of the season awaiting T.T.’s intel on the next international phenom.

With a FIP like 4 times that.

Not that I expect that regression to come today.

Salute to the 'Vaunted Cubs' title. I'm not crazy optimistic in things kicking back into gear but that might just be the thing to do it.

Oh come now. Everything screams Cubs offense breaks out for like 12 runs today, then score 3 total between the next two games.

more like 3 runs over the next 12 games if you include 2 of the ones they got yesterday

Anything short of a 5-1 homestand will be a disappointment. Its only going to take 89 wins tops to win this garbage division

Marlins are 8-3 in their last 11 games and have won 4 straight series against the Dodgers, Rockies, Phillies and Reds

Ohhhhh, nice. Now that we've used weather, fatigue, too many off days, KB and Rizzo being injured, etc., I will have something new to use if we again crap the bed.

i cant believe im going to watch this game

After the game last night I was happy because my golf league started today and I'd likely not be able to watch since I didn't think I'd be home until 9ish, but I got the first tee time today at 3:45 and will definitely be done by 7:30 and yup I'm definitely going to watch. I also leave for vacation on Wednesday for 10 days and was thinking maybe I'll be too busy having fun to watch any of their games but I know I will end up watching most of them, and likely ruining my vacation, while I'm gone and I'm stopping in Cincy a week from Saturday on my way back for the double header. I don't know why I'm so dumb to care and pay attention but here we are.

Stuff like this both makes me feel better and drives home how annoying it is when they go through these stretches.

They need to send Happ down and maybe bench Heyward for a little bit or a long bit. Maddon needs to do one of his patented gimmicks to get this team out of the funk they're in.

Hire a magician or a spoken word artist or a horsefeathering ventriloquist. Anything will do right now...

Happ fine. I don't see the point in completely benching Heyward. Maddon's gimmicks aren't really things he brings out when the team is in a funk, they are more or less things that he plans out over the course of a season to keep the team loose during the long grind of 162 games. I don't see him frantically trying to get a ventriloquist to rush out to Wrigley to save the Cubs' season.
