Why is it so terrible for people to think things aren't that bad, why do you need to convince people the sky is falling?

I think there is a balance there. Like, if they blow it today then the sky is falling.

No doom bonering here, friend-o; I don't assume terrible things are going to happen and am always hoping for the best.

Maybe I'm too demanding, but I'd prefer a Cubs starter to not only go 5.1 and give up 4 earned runs regardless of the stadium given how the starting rotation has looked thus far.

It literally took a ball to drop that’s caught 99.99999999% of the time for the 4 ERs to happen. If that doesn’t happen he likely goes long since his pitch count is way down and the lead is bigger.

I guess I'd be curious as to when you think a Cubs starter has actually stunk this year, or if there are always mitigating circumstances. "Just one bad inning, just a bunch of weak contact, etc., etc.."

He walked 1 and struck out 7. He got 12 swinging strikes in 83 pitches. He gave up a homer on a ball with a 94 mph exit velocity. And 2 runs scored on a routine fly ball that was dropped. He was pitching in Coors on a weekend when like 75 runs have been scored. The Cubs have been up by multiple runs all day since the top of the 1st inning.

Oh they’ve all mostly stunk outside of each guy having 1-2 decent starts. I just don’t think there’s much to the suckage outside of some bad luck, sequencing, not being good that particular day, etc. so it doesn’t overly concern or bother me to think it should really continue.

This feels like a low pressure version of '17 NLDS game 5 without the early deficit and without crazily getting a bunch of mid game runs against the best pitcher in baseball.

Cishek looked like horsefeathers after that 20 minute 7th inning stretch. Wanna pick up the pace, get rid of handing out 250 dollar gift certificates to home depot and singing of god bless america.

Just need to add more jet flyovers during the song to prove even more how patriotic baseball is. Or something.

So he managed to almost match the lofty standards of Tyler Anderson. AIM BIG.
