What we have is a potentially strong core that could be built around instead of one high potential player with a bare cupboard. If this team keeps trending in a winning direction I enjoy it. If I had more confidence in the front office I really think we could be building towards something good. I don’t know, maybe it’s meatbally or something but I do think building a winning mentality or whatever matters and as a competitive person I find it hard to root for losses. There’s likely some value to winning over losing on purpose

I don't think that's meatbally. Talent still trumps, but culture matters.

On the plus side, Raptors fans are now terrified of the scenario they get the 1 seed while the Bulls sneak into the 8 seed.

I really do think we need to trade Niko ASAP, if we've got a shot at a top 5 pick. Hell, even staying in the top 10. If you can do that, you've got Lauri, Dunn, LaVine, and Portis to build around. With Nwaba being kept hopefully.

Trade off Niko, plus Lopez, Grant, and Holiday, if you can.

Leaves you with that group of 5, plus Felicio, unless you can unload his contract in one of the deals.

You'd have our own 1st, plus the Pelicans 2nd, plus any picks and players you've added to the mix.

You'd need a rim protector and a 3, along with bench guys.

Again, I don't think we're a factor for the top end of the FA class myself. But, with our cap space, I'd love to try and pry Capela away from Houston. Which may be possible, with them needing to keep Paul and trying to nab Lebron.

I can see us going with a very young team and trying to let them grow together for a year or two, before they've got a shot at actually contending. Again, it'd take hitting on a top 5 pick and being smart with cap space. Plus the continued development of our current group.

I think that's a better play than holding onto Niko and trying to build with the 3 bigs shooting 3's as well as any other group out there. I can see the merit of trying to go that way, but I think taking assets for Niko and the higher pick is the best play for us.

If you can add Capela to Lauri, Dunn, LaVine, Portis, Nwaba, picks thru trades, and our own pick.....It'd give us something pretty damn fun to watch while they develop into a playoff team.....

The next 10 games probably dictate things for us. Maybe decides whether Niko stays or goes. If they go 6-4 or better, its hard to blame them if they chase the playoffs.

But, included in the 10 games are Washington away and Golden State and Houston at home. That conceivably should be 3 losses. They've also got Portland and Toronto at home. Hopefully there's a loss between those as well. That'd be 4. You've got Detroit and Miami at home and Indiana, New York, and Dallas on the road for the rest of the 10.

5-5 puts you at 18-27. Easy to pull the plug on Niko at that point, if not earlier, if they are worse than that.

they will lose to the cavs in the frst round, but lebron will be so impressed that he signs with the bulls to finish his career and pass the all-time leaders in everything while playing in michael's house

Stealing that from RealGM. Its 21 game stretches that Niko has posted each year. That's how many games he'll have played by Jan.15th, the first day he can be dealt.

Pretty sobering stuff, if there's anyone here thinking he's definitely taken a leap forward. Hopefully, he keeps it up and we can get something fun for him. And hopefully he's dealt right at that time, to get us back to losing more frequently.

Nice home tank W over a Lillard-less Portland squad. It seems like we've missed more stars than normal, and Harden is going to miss us now too.

3rd straight tank W. Included was Lauri with 22 and 12. Dunn was in foul trouble and had one of his worst games, as a Bull.

it's wild to me that michael beasley will retire one day having had a better nba career than derrick rose

Real win against a team it'd have been nice to lose to. Dunn was terrific, Lauri was solid. On a side note, Nwaba is a damn solid basketball player.

I'm surprised at how good Dunn has become.

A mid first rounder for Niko feels like a win

A tank win.

The thread title really should just be this:

I want Niko gone quick. But sadly, I'm not sure losing him does a ton to the tank. Portis has been damn good and the more time he gets, the better he's going to be.

Hopefully, we move Holiday, Grant, and Lopez too. Losing the depth is what's going to hurt our chances of winning games the most, barring injuries.

Would love to get a 1st for Niko and one more from taking on bad salary.

If the Niko pick is in the 15-20 range and the other is 20-30, I'd love to package them and Valentine or something to move back up towards the 10th pick.

One of Doncic, Ayton, Bagley, Young, Bamba, or Porter, PLUS one of Jackson, Mikal or Miles Bridges, Knox, or Sexton, would be amazing.

If the end result is developing Dunn, Lavine, Ports and Markannan into good players and having a couple of picks than it could be worse. The NBA is basically an everything has to work out perfectly league in order to win titles

Of course it could. There are 6 impact players in this draft though and we need to be in that group. Those 4 guys can develop and us still get in that group. It may be our only shot at drafting this high, which is good. But, because of that, they need to assure themselves one high pick at least.
