I'm probably higher on Young than most. From what I seen of him, he reminds me of Mahmoud Abdul Rauf/Chris Jackson. That style of play translates better now than it did 25 years ago. If the main names are gone, I would not be upset. I like him more than Bamba, tbh.

As far as pick 22....

I like Simons, Musa, Brown, or Robinson.

Would be disappointed if it's Hutchison.

Givony: I'm not ready to say he is certain to drop outside of the top three, but I do think that if the draft were tonight, I wouldn't have him in that range. Doncic and his camp could have some influence on where he lands if they choose to use his contractual status with Real Madrid as leverage (explained below), but the reality at the moment is that the teams in the top three might all pass on him anyway. The fact that Sacramento (No. 2), Atlanta (No. 3) and Memphis (No. 4) all declined to send a single person from the U.S. to watch the Euroleague Final Four tells me something about their interest level.

This is a good article on ESPN about why Doncic might be falling in the draft. It's pretty speculative, but they mention how bad he's looked at times in recent games. Their lead draft analyst (Jonathan Givony) is still really high on him and thinks he should go #1.

I have my doubts and would take Ayton and Bagley over him right now. His contract status could play a factor in where he gets drafted. He could potentially delay his NBA arrival by honoring his current contract with Real Madrid and come over in 3 years, similar to Mirotic. This could be a ploy by Doncic and his agent to get him to fall to an ideal team/market in the draft.

The more I hear about this draft, the more I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad thing if the Bulls traded down a few spots. Their options at 7 seem like guys with massive boom/bust potential, or low risk low ceiling guys who are just uninspiring.

If this draft is supposedly deep, would anyone in the 10-15 range be willing to trade up with the Bulls? Getting future picks or additional picks (hi LA Clippers!) might be the way to go if none of the guys available are worth it.

What's wrong with boom or bust?

I don't trust the coaching staff or the medical team. Bamba really intrigues me out of the possible picks at 7, but if he is gone, I don't trust the team doctors with Porter and I don't think the coaches can properly develop guys like Sexton or Turner.

Trading down would suck. If anything, they need to move up. If we found our way into 4, I'd take Bamba, or Bagley, if he's still there. At 7, you have a chance at getting an elite guy, but the odds lower obviously.....

My final 7 is Ayton, Bagley, Doncic, Bamba, then MPJ, JJJ, and Carter- with the order changing constantly.

Mikal Bridges or Young aren't guys I want, but would stupidly delude myself into thinking they can work.

Miles Bridges, Collin Sexton, or Kevin Knox throws me into a Christmas Vacation Clark Griswold rant.

If we want a 2nd solid pick, take Faried from Denver for 14, even if you give up 22.

And buy a damn pick in the 30's, like they sold off last year.

This is about where I am. I think if you're the Bulls you gotta make every effort to trade up to 4. Assuming Ayton, Doncic and Bagley are the top 3. I want to be assured of Porter or Bamba (who I am more intrigued by by the day). I don't think you get either sitting at 7. But to me, Porter has to be the pick. If I'm going boom/bust, I want the guy with the offensive talent (in an O driven league) that has injury questions rather than the defensive guy that has offensive questions. Of course, that same logic should make Trae Young pretty intriguing. If Young is the guy, I'd definitely be drinking the Kool Aid that he'd work out and be Steph Curry 2.0. But for whatever reason, I'd also feel better if the Bulls went up and got him at 4. That would show me that they value him a lot and he's the guy they want rather than the guy they settled for at 7.

Good article. I agree with the logic in the article and I'm an advocate of the "moving up" strategy in this draft. I already mentioned doing that a few months ago and I'm totally okay with giving up next year's draft pick (while putting Top-3 protection on it) because I think next year's draft class is terrible in terms of talent and upside.

My favorite prospect is still Bagley, but I also like MPJ and I go back-and-forth on Bamba. So Ayton is going #1, but after that I have no clue what will happen. If the Bulls have the opportunity to move up I think they should do it.

I've decided I like just 7 guys for the Bulls first pick in this draft and if we get 1 of the 7 I'll be happy. Obviously some of these like Ayton won't happen.

Roughly in order: Ayton, Doncic, Bagley, Porter, Bamba, Young, Jackson

I see mock drafts having the Bulls taking Wendell Carter, Kevin Knox, Mikail Bridges....just not a big fan of the fit of any of those 3. I'm not a huge fan of Bamba's fit either but I think the upside is insane.

Yeah, I want to move up just so they don't have to "settle" for the 7th of those guys. I want them to go get who they like the most outside of Ayton, who's gone at 1.

Not liking the stuff coming out about Porter, about how teams think he'll miss his rookie year.

1. Phoenix- Ayton

2. Sacramento- Bagley

3. Atlanta- Doncic

4. Bulls- Bamba (not sure what it would take, but I'd be willing to take Parsons' deal in order to keep either 22 or Portis). Maybe #4 + Parsons for #7, 2019 top 3 protected pick, Portis?

5. Dallas- Porter

6. Orlando- Young

7. Memphis- Jackson Jr.

I like Carter a lot. If he's the guy at 7, I'm fine with it. He's not my first choice, he's in the 5-7 range for me. But, I'd prefer Porter or Bamba, just for the upside.

I want an extra pick somehow. And I want to either move up to 14 or 15, from 22. Which seems very doable.

I like Carter too but I think his ceiling is rich man's Taj Gibson.

I really want Memphis' pick

Who do you want.

I by no means follow the draft as closely these days, but had kind of resigned myself to one of Bamba, MPJ, or Young being there at 7 and each offering a similar boom/bust profile (granted all in uniquely different ways). It seems possible a trade up to 4 is for one of these guys. Should I feel strongly enough for 1 over the other 2?

I have no idea the answer to your question, but KC Johnson apparently said this morning that the buzz is they'd be trading up to get Bamba.

Yeah I should clarify that I watch no college basketball at all and know basically nothing about any of these players, but if it really is only going to take picking up a shitty contract costing money they weren't going to spend anyways than I'd much prefer them doing that and going up and getting somebody they really want at 4 than taking what's left at 7.
