I made some predictions..here's how I did..I said Kyle would walk 1 and get a double play off it. Kyle walk 3 but he did get a double play off 1. He probably just walked the 2 other batters to annoy Dusty since he knew the Nats couldn't hit him anyway.

 

I said Russell would homer, he had a decent night at the plate, but no homer.

 

I said the Cubs would win, they sure as hell did that!!

 

2.5 out of 4.

 

Onto game 2

 

1. The Cubs will score a run the 1st trip through the batting order.

 

2. Lester will throw 15 or less pitches in the 1st inning.

 

3. Willson will hit a dong.

 

4. Cubs will win.

Do we really need right-handed hitting outfielder Ben Zobrist involved in this one?

 

The alternatives are Jay(okay but left handed), Heyward(great D horrific bat against LHP), or Schwarber(mediocre D bad bat against LHP). I'd have been okay with Jay, but I also appreciate that Zobrist's approach and eye at the plate keep him in the lineup and that has value. Probably doubly so against someone like Gio who has good stuff but can be erratic.

The other options are left handed Jay, Schwarber or Heyward or LaStella at 3B with Lester on the mound (and Bryant in OF). I'm not saying that makes starting Zo the obvious correct choice but I don't think any of the options stand out as better unless you want Heyward for defense
