Yeah. I haven't had a rewatch in a long time. I don't think I've ever rewatched the series all the way through. I've seen the first few seasons a bunch of times. But without doing a full rewatch, I haven't seen the early episodes in a long time.

I pretty much ignore Barstool sports and don't really know anything about them. Why does everyone hate them? I want to be mad online too.

Big Cat seems like a good dude and I like him, he's one of the only good things that site offers

I actually kinda like Pardon my Take, but I totally get why a lot of people wouldn't. They're basically douchey bros about any and everything regarding sports. I find some of their stuff funny still, but the hate is understandable.

 

It's all an act though, they're never more than 20% serious about any of the horsefeathers they say.

Big cat definitely cares about the cubs and Chicago sports in general though. He's kind of the sane one between the two on Pardon my Take. (Which is a podcast that big cat and a guy named PFT Commenter put out 3ish times a week).

Long story short the site promotes a pretty ugly misogynistic agenda, especially from its followers. Its founder is an enormous pro-trump douche and all over awful guy. Big cat is a huge jock sniffer. More recently a boston barstool guy wrote about "keeping your politics out of the stadium" with regards to the racism conversation.

Even setting aside the quality of barstool(absolute trash), why would you have someone from a sports site covering the Cubs do the stretch?

My guess is barstool reaches out to ask to participate while real journalists types from a newspaper or website would never do that. The Cubs are happy to more or less buy the PR.

 

Where deadspin took the "we won't play nice like regular beat writers with access" route and called out [expletive] when they saw it, Barstool took a different variation of the non-traditional format but chose to kiss ass.

Yep we are going to start the minor league catcher with a .786 AAA OPS to catch the minor league pitcher making his MLB debut in the middle of a penant race despite having 4 other players on the roster capable of playing catcher.
