So one pass beyond 10 yards before Atlanta went into prevent defense. Unbelievable.

Yep. And that includes the Cohen TD which was exactly 10 yards (past the LOS) in the air. The almost TD to Cohen and the Thompson play in the middle of the field are the only ones that were over 15, IIRC.

Urlacher is for sure a Hall of Famer. But I don't think he gets in this time because of Ray Lewis. Don't typically see 2 at the same position going in, especially in the first year. And I think the committee will see it as making Lewis and Urlacher seem like equals as players, which they are not.

What consideration will Devin Hester get for the HOF? Outside of Bears fans Hester is probably more well known. Didn't someone (Vai Sakahama?) already break the return man barrier for HOF consideration?

Has to get serious consideration. No primary return man has made it to the Hall. I believe Morten Andersen is the only primary special teamer in the Hall. I'm going to say that he gets a lot of support but does NOT make it in. He's top 10 in all return categories, but the only things he's actually #1 in are punt return TDs and overall non-offensive TDs. I think he'll get more consideration than Brian Mitchell, but if he would have gotten to his punt return yardage record (4,999 for Mitchell, Hester at almost 3700) then he'd be a shoe-in.

Pisses me off seeing this after hearing Hub yesterday praise Glennon's play last week

I don't know as much about football as I do about baseball, and when you hear him talk about baseball you can tell he's a complete moron, but you can actually tell with football too. He's just not a smart person. I don't even have the years and years of hate that people have for him...I didn't know who the hell he was until he got his Score spot years ago, but he's an idiot.

Does anyone remember the chili article I posted last year. Basically, Cutler was chilli with beans and Hoyer was beanless chilli.

What does that make Glennon?

The bean juice sludge left in a can of beans after you pour them out

Winston is pretty good, but I'll admit, I had higher hopes for him than what he's done so far. granted, he's young, so he'll get better, but he's just not very accurate....

He stands in the pocket about as well as any QB, he goes through his progressions and can extend plays, he has a really strong arm and a nice release, with decent, if unorthodox mechanics. But he'll be limited by his accuracy, a problem that will probably plague Deshone Kizer as well. They will be good, above average quarterbacks, but they won't be top 5 caliber. Think more Jay Cutler than Aaron Rodgers. I really feel like Winston will show that promise throughout his career, but it will fall short because he just can't hit his receivers in stride with consistency. He also takes risks, because like any starting quarterback that has been a first round pick, he's narcissistic. So get some picks on this guy.

I'm not surprised they may have a quick hook on Glennon. If they can play solid D and run the ball, that is something in the NFL. It was painfully obvious that the weak link last week was Glennon. 22 net yards passing through 3 quarters and plays left all over the field (as raw pointed out). I don't think they are going to watch a lot of other games like last Sunday and continue to throw Glennon out there for some uncertain development benefit that Trubisky gets from sitting on the bench and watch Glennon check down on every pass.

I said this before, but my feeling is that they are starting Glennon in the first couple of games with hopes that he will win them but with an expectation that, at the very least, the staff will have a couple of full games of film on the rest of the teams on their schedule. This will allow them to cram it all into Mitch's head over the next couple of weeks and months, thus giving him a grounding in blitz packages.

They know that Mitch can identify defenses, but he just hasn't seen enough yet to throw out there, you know, being the most important player in Bears history and all.

So, basically, they don't want him to get hurt if he misses an exotic blitz call and goes splat because he never had a chance. Glennon is the crash test dummy. There's just no other good reason to start Glennon.

Damn shame the NFL didn't allow blitzes until this year. Would have been handy to have film of blitz packages to begin the year.

even being an NC state fan (therefore kind of pull for Glennon always - not like i care all that much, though) and a UNC hater (therefore am programmed that i should hate Mitchell) i completely endorse this post.

i'm still amazed that nc state has four starting QBs this week in the NFL and have never been anything but mediocre (well except one year w/ rivers. think they finished like #10 or 12 but i haven't looked)
