lester can stop being horsefeathers any day now please

seriously though, what did he do wrong besides walking hamilton? That Votto HR is an out 90% of the games at Wrigley Field. Other than that it was a bunch of BABIP bloops and grounders. He was inducing weak contact.

I literally can not think of a scenario where a 7+ ER inning could possibly be less of the pitchers fault.

he's been shitty for like 4 straight starts now

Yeah, kinda seems like he just took himself out of the game. If so, happy he's healthy, but obviously not ideal.

Side note: World Series heroics obviously, but I'll always love Monty for his apparent willingness to pitch in any situation, and pitch well.

He hasnt been great but the results have been ok, 6 IP 3 ER, 6.2 IP 3 ER, 4 IP 3 ER. I honestly assign very little blame for him on today's game. No not the numbers you want from your $155m ace, but I wouldnt say hes been whatever word that horsefeathers is being used in place of.

Sort of did look like he tapped out. Which would be much better than an arm injury.

Cant wait to hear the meatballs go after him for taking himself out of a game just because he was having a rough inning.

i'm pretty sure we're gonna score like 6 or 7 runs today which will annoy me way worse than just laying down and dying

Yeah, seemed pissed off at bosio for something. Not coming out I guess?

Overall season performance aside, I don't have much problem with the way he pitched today. Just incredibly bad luck.

I kinda love the move on his part, was at ~40 pitches for the inning despite having ~8 balls hit that are outs 80%+ of the time. Save the arm for the long haul.

Yeah taking yourself out in the second inning raises definite concerns. Everyone could tell it was a string of bad luck, hence the no mound visits and no one warming up. For him to say 'horsefeathers this game, horsefeathers the bullpen, I'm going home' isn't really that good of a look for a dude who has repeatedly been pissed about getting taken out in the past.

Having your best or 2nd best and most expensive pitcher go nearly 50+ pitches in an inning is stupid. I'm glad he did it.
