duke and david are always right, and yet it always feels like they're trying to convince themselves more than they're trying to convince everyone else.

ultimately this is a good roster, but the whole "they weren't broken cubs tonight, they were just regular not-good-enough cubs" refrain is such a sad place for this season to have gotten to.

You know they can't win every game, right?

I've been getting pissed at Joe more than usual lately. He either needs to stop drinking so much wine or start drinking more of it.

Just skimming this thread but I'm definitely doing the same lately. It feels like there's been several games where he's been asleep at the wheel and not playing the best match ups. The division being up for grabs certainly doesn't help my annoyance level.

David and Duker are superstars, the Bryzzo of this board. But even they aren't always right and would likely tell you so. Duke had us winning 117 games and David requested to be woken up for the playoffs because regular season games weren't going to matter.

Still, they are likely first ballot Hall of Famers. Just shows you how hard baseball takes can be sometimes.

I still mostly request to be woken up for the playoffs, though I took some Ambien and have probably been sleep walking at times.

By the time David hangs it up, performance-enhancing drug users will have already been let in.

He is likely first ballot.

With the Dodgers probably finishing the season with a record of 115-47 or something. The Cubs were destined to face the Nats anyway you look at it even if they finished with another 103 win season. I know yesterday sucked as has a lot of games this year, but I still think they can beat Dusty and a crippled Bryce Harper led Nats team. As for the Dodgers, who knows if we would even play them. Anything can happen in the playoffs and yesterday's loss was like an annoying mosquito biting at your leg and that is really it.

Yep, a NLDS Game 1: NL Central Winner @ Nats is pretty much set in stone. They would be tough matchup...they have 4 everyday position players with OPS's at or in some cases much higher than Bryant (not that OPS is the end all of offensive ability), that's a tough heart of the order to go through 4+ times a game not to mention seeing Scherzer twice and Gio and probably Strasburg the other 2 games. But can we win? Absolutely.

I wasn't even bothered by this loss and I really should have been, but with the schedules the rest of the way I'm not concerned about the division in the least .The Cardinals and Brewers and Pirates all suck. The Cubs have also sucked but they have talent the other three do not have. Also, seeing Hendricks look like 2016 Hendricks was more important than winning that dumb game.
