of course we can. so can the dbacks or rockies.

Or any of the other viable NL playoff contenders...

so, the nats?

Indeed, but let's hope not since they'd probably have to beat us to face them

Is it meatball to take comfort in the fact that the greatest regular season pitcher in modern history turns into a pumpkin when the playoffs come around?

Yeah. An NLDS of Greinke, Ray, Godley, Walker, Greinke is more than capable of beating LA.

Technically It would more go Ray, Godley, Walker, Greinke, Ray.

I literally remembered the play-in game 2 horsefeathering seconds after I hit submit but with all this horsefeathering deadline site traffic it took me 10 minutes to edit my horsefeathering post.

Hmm... correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the Warriors have actually won a title before.

The Warriors have won a title in Klay Thompson's lifetime, unlike the Dodgers.

(This would've been better if Durant was like a month younger or Curry 6 months younger.)

That was the point...nobody else in the NL are even likely to finish over .500.

Maybe Klay let Trayce take his ring into the clubhouse for show-and-tell?

I don't understand how you can watch baseball for most of your life and make claims like people have made about the Dodgers. This is a sport where bad teams win series against good teams constantly so to claim that a good team won't win a series against another good team is absurd. This is a sport where a mediocre Cardinals team won the World Series in 06, or a juggernaut Cubs team still needed extras in a game 7 to win a title a year ago. You don't have to really understand baseball is a playoff crapshoot to know that the Dodgers are no where near guaranteed to win it all. You just have to watch baseball and see how the sport works and how it has worked forever.

The funny thing is that they've abandoned all of their favorite narratives to go with these hot takes. I have no idea how many times last year I was reminded of the Giants having "been there before" and "knowing what it takes" to win a World Series. So wtf? That doesn't matter now? What about all the hot takes we've heard about Kershaw "crumbling under pressure?" Nope. Warriors.

I'm not too concerned about it. It's the media, this is what they do; they anoint and they tear down because it gets people talking.

I was eating up the same stories being written about the Cubs last year even though I knew the playoffs are a weighted crapshoot. Just nice to read about your team being slobbered over.

I don't understand how you can watch sports for most of your life and not realize how the sports media world operates.

They are writing these stories today specifically so they can have a doozy of a "wow did these guys ever choke" story in their back pocket if/when the Dodgers come up short.

Never forget.

There were at least a dozen times yesterday I wanted to tweet this gif at people. I was just too lazy to look for it.

Disagree. They are writing these stories today because it gives them something to write about today. It's a long season in sports. You worry about today as a journalist. As far as the future, either story is going to be there. They choke, you can write about that. They win it all, well, that's easy to write, too.
