If he can stick I think this is where you use the "waves" thing in a non-sarcastic way

Right now the waves are just washing up dirty diapers around everyone's ankles.

miggy is going to either tweet something extremely positive/high road-ey in cute broken english thanking the fans and stuff or some wild ass horsefeathers

there's no in-between

Fascinating business decision by Miggy. Be a member of the most popular Cubs team ever, be part of perhaps the greatest and most famous championship team in baseball history while coming up with some big hits during that run.

Then over the course of the next eight months, publicly be a dick to management and teammates in multiple instances and go out like this.

Sammy ain't got nothing on Miggy.

Am I reading this right? Miggy was slightly below average at framing and Willson is in the bottom 20% of catchers in baseball at framing?

i believe it; we've been angrier than usual at the umps

so much of this is pitcher-influenced it seems too, catching guys with poor command like Jake, Butler, and maybe Monty (also, losing Hendricks) puts you behind the 8-ball for setting a good frame

Definitely. And BP tries to account for this with their framing metric. There was a thing when Russell Martin went to Toronto and went from really good to horrible at Statcorner, and it was because he had to start catching R.A. Dickey. Statcorner kinda sucks. BP tries to account for pitchers, their wildness, what pitches they are throwing, who is umpiring, etc.

BP has Willson above average this year. It's definitely because we've got a bunch of shitty pitchers right now.

suddenly i feel bad for being mad at him

eh, I could never really get mad at him. that friggin turd always cracked me up

After receiving his passport, Montero returned to Wrigley Field and ran into former Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster, a native of Canada.

"I told him, 'get out of my country,'" Montero joked.

I'll always have a soft spot for Miggy. He did a hell of a lot of good here. You could see this happening, lots of frustrations about this season.....They'd already had to talk to him after his WS comments. Theo wasn't going to be fucked with again.

I like Caratini a bunch. I'm super interested to see how he looks. But, it doesn't seem like he's ready defensively and I think he's likely to be dealt to an AL team within the next month or so.

Our guys value framing, they'll likely go find an old guy pretty soon, in my opinion.

You should; Miguel was awesome. In addition to his postseason heroics, the dude added a lot of personality to the team. I'll miss him.
