It's crazy that pretty much Bryant, Russell, Rizzo and Schwarber are the only full time starters. Everyone else kind of rotates in and out each game.

That's gotta be the worst OF we've thrown out there since the days of David DeJesus

Without even looking I'm sure there was a Coghlan/Sweeney/Lake monstrosity somewhere in the 2014 season.

True, those days are a haze for me. I pretty much meant, before we became good.

But anyway, as much as I am hoping Al gets playing time, and believe in his talent, he is simply an auto-out vs RHP at this point in his career. And last year was a total outlier in him reversing his splits. I don't put much stock in that happening again anytime soon. He has much work to do in that respect.

I had forgotten that Baxter was a real thing that happened on the 2015 Cubs

junior lake still shocks me more because i expect to see random dudes that show up for a start or two from AAA, but junior lake feels like 10 years ago.

We really rebuilt that team on the fly in 2015. In addition to Lake, Mike Olt, Edwin Jackson, Phil Coke, Tsuyoshi Wada and Wellington Castillo all played for that team at some point.

Only because all the good players had to start the year in the minors to delay their FA.

He's had 61 PA against RHP this year. Over half of those PA have come against RHP in the 6th inning and on, which are often guys out of the pen that are death on right-handed batters. He hasn't really been given the chance to face run-of-the-mill right-handed starters. His RHP PAs are largely against deathly relievers, because he is in the game for defense, after starting against a lefty or being subbed in.

And his minor league splits aren't that drastic. The only year where there is a major difference is 2015, and that looks like some fluky SSS stuff against LHP. There's usually below a .100 OPS difference between the two. In nearly 2,000 professional PAs, his ISO is higher against righties.
