I really don't think it's that terrible an idea. A HR is the only outcome that it matters that you pitched to him.

Do tell....Why woud you pitch to one of the best hitters in baseball when Lackey due up?

 

Because it's overwhelmingly likely that Rizzo's PA results in something that's not a HR, and more likely than not that it results in an out. If it results in an out, the Cubs start the 17th with an automatic out.
