well it's annoying that boston got the #1 pick, but the sixers pick #3 and have their own first round pick plus the lakers first round pick (unprotected) in 2018, and their own first round pick plus the kings' first rounder (also unprotected) in 2019. that's about as good a shot as you'll get to become one of the 3-4 teams that has a chance to win in the stupid nba in any given year.

Almost as good as having the #3 pick from the Nets, then their #1 pick, then their pick again the next year, then a pick apiece from Memphis and the Clippers down the road, and you just finished 1st in the East.

i'm convinced that one of the best ways to build a champ in the nba is to just take advantage of dumb and desperate teams who bought their way into salary cap hell.

After the Cousins trade, when I thought the Kings would tank, I thought for sure that the Kings would jump into the top-3 only to have to swap with Philly. The Kings haven't moved up in any of the recent lotteries (basically since they were good) so it would have been their luck that the one year they do jump up, they get bumped back down because of a pick swap they didn't need to include. Only ended up costing them two spots but it's still hilarious.

Even more hilarious would be Lavar Ball's reaction if the Lakers passed on Lonzo at No. 2.

i want the warriors to win every game

i also rooted for the patriots to go undefeated

that may have been a valid comparison last year, but i don't see it now

edit: nevermind, I just realized you were talking about the warriors chance at going undefeated in the postseason

They've been in top 5 picks for like 10 years now and several #1. They already had their shot and then some. Maybe they'll draft a guy that actually play their rookie season.

SSR, any chance you guys sign Hayward AND go after Jimmy? Not the 1 this year, but maybe the Nets pick next year, Crowder, and maybe the Memphis pick or something like that?

literally nothing in this sentence is accurate.

Yes, I over exaggerated a ton here. It just seems like they been sucking forever.

Here is what they actually had though the past few years.

2017: 3rd pick plus 4 2nd (36/39/45/50)

2016: 3 1st (1/24/26)

2015: 3rd plus 5 2nd (35/37/47/58/60)

2014: 2 1st (3/10) plus 5 2nd (32/39/47/52/54)

2013: 11th plus 2 2nd (35/42)

2012: 15th plus 2 2nd (45/54)

It's still early to call on the '15/'16 class and 2nd rounders hit rate is pretty low, but that's a horsefeathers ton of draft picks the past few years to make them better and it still haven't gotten them out of the celler. This will be the 4th straight year having a top 3 pick.

Even with the multiple 1st coming in 2018 and 2019, they already had a shot with these picks. Maybe Embiid and Simmons will stay healthy this time around and it'll turn around for them.

I can't really see the point of that. I'm also leery of this assumption that Hayward to Boston is a done deal. For better or for worse I think Ainge will want to see all 3 of those Brooklyn picks get drafted before doing anything with them.

I agree. I think they'll go after a big man to pair with Horford before they go for Hayward then they'll look to see what it'll take to get Butler/PG.

basically i was just saying i rarely root against greatness happening unless i really dislike a player/team involved or something like with lebron or the cardinals

the warriors have an insane roster and i want to see them play insanely well.

When the consensus top 2 players in the draft are PG's, does Boston consider trading Thomas?

they're not (consensus, that is)

i've seen plenty of lists with jackson and/or tatum ahead of ball

I'm not really expecting a trade of anyone of note until next season at the earliest. Could see them spinning off some backcourt depth like Smart or Rozier.

Have you seen any that don't have Fultz at #1?

But Fultz is #1 in nearly every post-lottery mock. So does Boston take him? Trade down? Trade Thomas? Skip Fultz for Tatum?

How willing are the Celtics to go deep into the luxury tax? That's my big question when looking at their next moves. If they sign some major salaried player this year, it seems to me almost certain they will go into the luxury tax in 2018, and if they bring Thomas, Smart, and Bradley back it will probably not be by a small margin either.

Unless I'm off on the CBA (I'm not great with that on the NBA)They're still owned by the same group that exceeded it in the Big 3 era, I don't anticipate it being an issue. Smart really seems to be the odd man out going forward unless Brown and Fultz are complete busts.
