So what, then, a good week doesn't portend the entire rest of the season?

No, but a solid three months might.

Sure, but that hasn't happened yet. A week ago, the Brewers were even with a hugely disappointing Cubs team with a worse RD.

We don't need to rehash all this, but the Brewers put together winning months in April, May and June. Their offense has been among the league leaders in runs scored and dongs throughout and their starting ERA has been solid.

ETA: Correction. They were .500 in April (13-13) so that's not a winning month.

It's just not accurate to act like they had a lucky week and ignore the fact that they have been solid all season.

They've been about as solid as a hugely disappointing Cubs team until the past week.

If that means you have to give them the early overachiever award (personally I think the Diamond backs get it), then great. They've reduced the Cubs division odds from 95% to 70% over 3 months.

Right now, though, there are about 5 good teams in MLB, and the Brewers aren't among them.

We'll catch the Brewers just fine if we ever play good baseball again. I'm not worried about that. My fear is that we just won't get it going this year.

I'll accept the overachiever status. They obviously look better because of the low expectations for them compared to the huge ones for us.

But a $62 million payroll for a team that went a month without Roid boy, haven't had a losing month and will enter the break in first and at the very least seven games above .500..... is pretty damn impressive.

But no, they aren't a top five team in baseball. It's just that they might not have to be if we don't get our stuff together.

Yeah, the Cubs' fate is pretty much all in their hands; the Brewers not being garbage is annoying, but if the Cubs consistently play anything like the Cubs they're SUPPOSED to then the Brewers are toast.

i'm watching the brewers bat and hoping that they don't increase their 4-0 lead in a game that would put them 5.5 games up on the cubs. can i get another shot at life please

Rockies rookie lefty just lost a no-hitter to Melky Cabrera with one out in the 9th inning.

After throwing 126 pitches.

I'm just amazed at a starting pitcher lasting past the 6th inning. Are they allowed to do that?

Sometimes they don't allow runs in the first inning either.

The Rockies are falling apart, that 2nd WC is very much in play for us or the Brewers

Yeah, they are going to finish below .500 and the horrible NL Central will get two teams in the playoffs. Brewers over Diamondbacks in Wild Card Game. Brewers over Dodgers. Cubs over Nats. Then we can settle this thing once and for all.

The Brewers are not making it into the NLCS.

so the phillies get 2 on with 1 out and line into a double play, then travis shaw hits a dong the next inning

horsefeathers the horsefeathering brewers

To start the inning the lead off hitter for the Phillies hit a screaming line drive to 3B that was caught too.
