So it's ok for him to be away from his mother-in-law to spend a couple days in Chicago for the Convention but not to visit the White House?

 

Gordon Wittenmyer said he left the convention early, so I don't think Jake was full of horsefeathers for his reason not to go to the White House

 

leaving the convention early is something every reasonable adult should attempt to do. Missing a meeting with the President is not.

Lester and Lackey are doing some golf tournament judging by Lester and Kristina Lackey's twitter pages. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that they had made prior commitments. This was a bit of a rush planning job.

Rondon was a convention no show too...sick?

 

my guess would've been visa issues of some kind. seems to pop up every year for spring training. but i don't know anything about that so maybe i'm wrong.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that tournament Lackey/Lester play in is something they've been doing every year for quite some time. It also benefits a horsefeathering Children's Hospital so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt along with Arrieta (since he also left the convention early) on top of it already being mentioned this WH trip was scheduled on short notice.

Counterpoint: Per the website of the golf tournament, the pro-am was on Thursday and the actual tournament wrapped up yesterday. Without any knowledge of other commitments, seems like they could have made it up to DC by noon today if they wanted to. It's not like they were in charge of the tournament or anything...even if they had some event scheduled for today, seems like meeting the President would have been a good enough excuse to bail.

 

Ultimately, whatever...got to watch Rizzo, Theo, and Willson stand front row and be congratulated for winning the horsefeathering World Series by someone who isn't Donald Trump.
