Grain of salt, but good god if he gets Bosio'd. Does Bosio have some secret sauce or is he that much better/smarter than everyone else and/or are other teams/pitching coaches just that stupid?

I'd lean towards the former where so many other teams/coaches have their ways set and one size fits all approach (i.e. Orioles and cutters/pretty much everything else pitching) even though there's no factual basis for what they are doing and when they get to Bosio it's just like "hey man you were good and thought of highly once, why don't you just go back to what got you there."

I also wonder if the Cubs don't give a crud about injury risk, as is: either the pitcher gets injured or they don't and trying to limit the risk by changing their mechanics is pointless, especially when they end up a much worse pitcher. Other teams might. I also believe that one of the major reasons the O's try to limit/remove the cutter is do to their belief that it creates a higher risk of injury.

That's not to say that Bosio and his staff won't try little tweaks to help the player stay healthy, but major changes that negatively impact the pitcher's performance are not considered.

I would agree with you, except that the Cubs' staffs have been very healthy the past few years. So I think they've found something deeper than that. My guess is that they've found that there's no such thing as a "perfect" delivery and tweaking a natural delivery either increases injury risk or keeps it neutral.

What am I missing here?

pitchers and catchers report earlier than position players, yada yada yada, the bisque was good.

Right, nevermind that plenty of other players are reporting early. I don't think Rizzo thinks he's a catcher, but he's there.

Definitely not meant to be taken seriously.

Hendricks and I share equally pale and spindly legs. Neato. Also, that photo with what looks like Strop in the rear-view reflection is a really really good photo.

It was really jarring to see a photo of Hendricks girly legs (no offense) and then Jake's manly legs in the next photo

"Best shape of his life."

It could be a little of both, too. Like, if they plan on making a $100+ million commitment on a guy, they are going to do it with a guy they've somehow identified as more likely to stay healthy. But, knowing that not everyone is Jon Lester, they would rather a guy feel comfortable and give him every opportunity to perform his best, without constantly worrying about something they know they can't fully control.

If I had to distill it to a single point, I think the Cubs want to invest resources in starting pitchers who easily repeat their deliveries. Those are the guys who are going to be both successful and healthy in higher quantities than guys who might not be as consistent but have better stuff or guys who have really high highs and low lows. They aren't afraid to take chances on someone who might not make the adjustment needed to reach that point(Arrieta, Butler, Anderson), but you won't see them staking chunks of starts to a guy who hasn't shown that ability for an extended stretch.

How cute, Schwarber thinks he's still a catcher.

Pretty sure he's been in Arizona for a good chunk of the offseason for rehab/working out/training

I live in Phoenix, actually Tempe to be precise. My buddy has seen Schwarbs out in public a couple of times over the winter at Papago Golf Course (a popular public course near Scottsdale), most recently about 3 weeks ago. Leads me to believe Schwarbs spent the winter out in AZ. And yes, my friend said he was wearing his knee brace both times he saw him golfing.

Not entirely sure why, but I read this like a Trump tweet in my head. Might be the exclamation point.

read your response before I read the tweet. Proceeded to read Hitters as Hitler. Never use hitter at the beginning of a sentence.
