I've been in meetings most of the day so I might have missed something but today seems like a total disaster.

-Confirmed that we're wildly overpaying Glennon by $5m more than anyone else would offer

-Fail to sign either of their 2 CB targets which might be our biggest glaring weakness

-Sign a 32 year old safety who is good but again 32

-Sign a TE that might potentially be good

-Lose Alshon Jeffrey on a 1 year horsefeathering deal

I mean I guess Alshon's deal is basically the franchise tag but still, our offense is terrible now.

I'm surprised at how many of you guys want us to blow our load in FA, which is generally an absolutely terrible plan.

And we suck so bad that we have to overpay the hell out of every player we puruse.

I'm really not gonna hang Pace for not paying 90 mil to Stephon horsefeathering Gilmore, or a decent cover guy who doesn't take the ball away much in Bouye.

The Glennon deal is really good for the place our team is in. It's basically a 1-2 year deal for a guy who actual NFL people say is a viable QB with upside remaining. And the fact that he's thrown 10 passes in 2 years is not a negative to me either as it also means he has a clean bill of health and hasn't taken a pounding the last couple years. The Bears have a better line than he's played with and a better run game. That should certainly improve his chances of performing at a high level.

And oh what a happy day having Cutler out of Chicago.

I don't want to blow our load, but I want us to fill holes. In case you missed it we were a 3-13 team last year and I don't know how signing Glennon, losing an all pro receiver and not getting a top FA at a position of glaring weakness is a good thing.

This is dumb and wrong.

The idea that smart teams don't spend in free agency is dumb and wrong. You have to spend in free agency to compete. There is no such thing as a purely draft driven team. Cap space can and should be used to acquire the best players possible.

Well.....He obviously doesn't care about winning. He doesn't even want to play for the team he guaranteed was winning the next SB.

unless you're really smart and luck your way into 2.5+ decades of hall of fame QBing

then it doesn't matter if you're located in the armpit of america where nobody in their right mind would choose to go

If you drafted a starter on 50% of your draft picks, it would take you like 6 years to build a team entirely through the draft if you started from scratch which is kinda sorta where the Bears were at in 2014. And 50% seems like a pretty high hit rate. So yeah FA absolutely has to play a part in making a really crappy talent-less team into a contender relatively quickly.

yeah, the smartest team in football is the one that just gave a $90 million contract to "stephon horsefeathering gilmore." the idea that smart teams don't spend in free agency is silly.

Brandon Marshall coming to the Bears was the last time I was excited about this team. That was 4 years ago? Wow.

Top 5 draft pick next year for sure. This team looks awful. No way we're winning more then 6 games.

for the record, bmarsh was traded to the bears because he wore out his welcome in miami, just like he does everywhere he goes. and heyward didn't REALLY take a worse deal to come here, iirc.

if FA's have a special distaste for the bears, i doubt it has much to do with ryan pace (beyond the money he's offering)

Holy horsefeathering horsefeathers at the WR market, if Terrelle Pryor doesn't wind up a Bear.....

Michael Floyd, Kendall Wright, and Gordon.....Who now looks like a guy we can't do without, if we miss on Pryor.

funny to think about where we were for several years before getting marshall and jeffery. we went into seasons with either hester or a scrapheap roy williams as our #1 WR.

Your confidence is throwing me off. How many wins are you giving them? You understand they don't have any WR's or CB's right? Well they do, but......

Also, I think this now green lights the chance that Pace drafts Mike Williams at 3. Ugh.

I'm saying they will draft outside the top 5. Nothing more.
