Gooney get out of your NY bubble and realize it's not just the fans that hate Cutler it's the people in the building too. It might be irrational but the Cutler ship has sailed.

The thin tail positive outcome is Glennon becomes a guy you can build a contender around. Every other outcome dictates drafting a QB early this season and next. Look at Houston going after Romo despite that awful Osweiler deal. Glennon only blocks a young draft pick by being great.

There is no outcome on the bell curve where you can build around Glennon. Theres like 6 QBs in the game like that. The optimistic end is that he is a borderline top 1/3 QB, and can go far with him and a talented D and good supporting cast.... like a prime Flacco.

so he can or cannot be elite?

Exactly

I think he can be above average. I think it's fairly likely that he's a better option (as a player - not sure what the calculus is when you bring contracts into the picture) than Cutler next year. Cutler keeps getting hurt, has now hurt his throwing arm (and his throwing hand seems to be a recurring issue now as well), and just had a pretty shitty year when he did play.

Maybe the problem is the people in the building.

As in the roster? I think it's probably divided. I still think he has plenty of guys on his side in the locker room.

Haha. The pitch was lobbed and Gooney cracked it over the left field fence Glenallen Hill style.

I am looking forward to following Cutler on the Jets next year.

Honestly if Romo goes to Denver, I think Jay winds up in Houston or Miami. Based on things I've read, he'll probably retire before going to NYJ or Cleveland.

The market has worked out pretty well for him. Taylor is staying in Buffalo, Garropolo likely staying in NE, Glennon probably to Chicago. You're basically down to Romo, Cutler, Kaepernick, and Fitzpatrick. And I'm pretty sure Jay will have priority over the latter two.

But, but, but...... Kaepernick promises to stand for the National Anthem.

If Cutler ends up in Houston, I'm definitely adopting them next year as my second team.

Is there any concrete proof that Glennon is better than Hoyer?

Well you could cherry pick stats to support either, probably. But I'd personally favor the stats that favor Glennon plus the fact that he could improve from what he was as a rookie and second year guy verse a now over 30 Hoyer who probably isn't getting better.

I've also seen enough of Hoyer to not like his game much. Cant say the same for Glennon, to be fair.

This has been said for 25 years. And it's absolutely true

Make no mistake about it. Whatever the scenario, this team will be trash next year. A top 5 pick again next year is in the cards.

Can I bet you on that?

I'll say they'll pick outside the top 5.

We're entering Cleveland Browns territory boys

its QB purgatory. Looking to free agency to fill your QB need is fruitless because good QBs don't become available in free agency. Your options are various temperatures of poop every year.

I get what he's thinking to:

"free pass on 2017"

Yeah, I see that too.

But, I do think if the 3rd pick is used on something other than a QB, its not going to be that surprising if this team makes the playoffs(or at least gets back to .500)

is 13 drops in 6 games even a relatively high total?

i'm thinking it is, but obviously it's not like you just turn them all into completions.

If we keep Alshon, sign Gilmore, add a starting S via FA, and use the 3rd pick on something other than a QB, I think its between 6-10 wins. And I'd bet its 8 or more.
