If we get Glennon, a top end CB like Gilmore, a RT(Wagner), a WR(Jeffery)and a S......

It pretty much allows for true BPA. You can take a QB at 3, if you want. Or any sort of defensive playmaker.

At any rate, it'd tell me we can take a QB inside the first 4 rounds almost definitely, along with a CB, a TE, and depth elsewhere.....

If we arent sold on a QB at 3 a trade down would be pretty apealing for the right price.

I would LOVE to trade down. I just don't see a team trading up to 3. What are they moving up FOR?

Fournette is one popular trade up theory I've seen. One of the QBs could be another posibility.

I saw an interesting trade thrown out by someone, although its probably not something most on here would like.....Pick 3 for pick 10, Tyrod Taylor, the Bills 2nd and 6th, and their 3rd next year.....

I guess Buffalo supposedly likes Trubisky. At 10, there'd be a QB sitting there, or any number of defensive options.(maybe even Allen falls that far). And if you need to, you can package your 2nd, with Buffalo's, to move back into the 1st, if you feel the need to get one of these QB's.....

How does glennon make it possible to go BPA? Nothing hinges on Glennon except his giraffe neck.

Not sure what you mean? Glennon is a guy the Bears would be using as a stopgap starter anyway.....QB is obviously still a longterm need, but its not do or die to take one at 3 this year.

Or am I just not understanding what you're saying?

Signing a unproven stopgap is stupid

you say suing Glennon makes it possible to go BPA in draft when in fact they can go BPA regardless of Glennon.

Yeah, you're right. He's the epitomy of a stopgap. He won't influence their longterm QB decision-making.(hopefully at least)

LOL at that trade scenario. Bills can't be that stupid. If that is somehow offered, I hope Pace takes it. With Taylor actually being a QB that you can feel comfortable with and is under contract for 5 more years iirc, you can really get creative and build up your starter/depth talent with 6 picks in the top ~110 and have a future 3rd on top of that. I'm not even sure I would pick a QB if it went this way. If someone drop to them in the 2nd or 3rd and he's BPA, then sure, pick the guy, but I wouldn't trade up to get a QB.

Just Taylor alone should bring back a ton imo.

Well, as much as I like Taylor, he's very possibly getting cut within the next few days. So, his actual trade value is definitely not much. I "think" using the TV chart is outdated a bit. But, you're looking at a 900 point differential to make up(2200-1300) from 3 to 10.....Buffalo's 2nd takes up 460. Their 6th takes up 20ish points. The 3rd next year is hard to figure....They're 3rd THIS year is worth 200-220ish. But, I think a future picks value is literally cut in half, by what I've heard in the past.

Even if its worth the same as a current pick, that deal equates to be about 200 points short. Which then gives Taylor a mid 3rd round trade value. If you devalue the future pick, it raises Taylors value to a late 2nd.

For a guy that's probably 70/30 in favor of getting cut in a few days.

Like I said, I'd do it. But, its not great value, IMO.

But, Taylor basically on a 2/30 deal seems much, much more palatable than Glennon on around the same thing.

In the middle of the last page, I listed everyone that we have been rumored with. I'm updating it and have the players age and their star rating from WalterFootball listed. No idea why I'm using WF, but its probably as good as any of them outside of PFF, which I don't have.....

Thomas or Hooker could be players that make teams wanna leapfrog, I think.

What are your guys thoughts on Thomas for us? Too much of a square peg in a round hole (some people doubt 3-4 viability) or do you think he could excel in our system?

Andrew Whitworth was the top rated player in the FA class for 2016? Interesting.

Swearinger looks like he had a good year and is only 26. Wagner as well. Bouye is elite, but Gilmore looks average. I wonder what the price difference between the two will be.

Optimally: sign Swearinger, Bouye, Logan Ryan, Pierre Garcon, and Hoyer. Now you can draft a QB or BPA in the first round. Forget Wagner, while he upgrades the line, he doesn't upgrade it enough to warrant a big contract.

Draft:

Mitchell Trubisky

Evan Engram

Teez Tabor

Dalvin Tomlinson

S - Swearinger, Amos, Bush, Jones-Quartey, Prosinski, Leblanc

CB - Bouye, Ryan, Tabor, Porter, Callahan, Hall, Leblanc

ILB - Freeman, Kwiatkowski, Trevathan (PUP), Anderson, Jones, Timu

OLB - McPhee, Floyd, Young, Acho

DT - Goldman, Wilson, Sutton

DE - Hicks, Bullard, Tomlinson, Unrein, Sutton

WR - Meredith, Garcon, White, Bellamy, Braverman, Thompson

TE - Engram, Miller, Brown

OT - Leno, Massie, McCants

OG - Sitton, Long, Kush, Larsen

C - Whitehair, Grasu

RB - Howard, Langford, Carey

QB - Hoyer, Trubisky

Not bad, have to find some OT depth in the later rounds.

I think you're probably putting too much emphasis on one year. Gilmore was down in 2016, but was considered excellent prior to that. Bouye kind of came out of nowhere in 2016. I wouldn't think its remotely safe to think Bouye is the better option going forward.(I think their pricetags are probably going to be very similar)

I disagree on Wagner. He's a pretty solid upgrade from Massie. And it probably just costs 3-5 mill extra, once you cut Massie.

I thought Tabor graded out 1-2 Rd? How would you get him, Mitch and Engram?

He just ran a 4.68. He's going to drop like a rock.

If the Bears make a RT move, it needs to be quick. Massie is due a million dollar bonus on Saturday. So, he'd need to be cut by then to save the full 5 mill possible.

I just care about the guarantees. A stopgap is a stopgap. If ours is younger with even a bit of upside, I'm OK with it. As long as its not hurting our cap space for long.
