what's really weird is that people have quote tweeted it and I can still click on the individual tweet and see it, but it isn't showing up in his feed. So maybe some sort of glitch and not really deleted.

nevermind, it's gone that way now too

Not saying I love that there has been financial constraint rumors but there is definitely a solid chance Theo/Jed are just flying under radar stealth mode on Harper.

Theo is the same guy who secret signed Dex Fowler and randomly had him run out to Spring Training one practice after camp started.

A real chance it might help bring price down a little for the original Harper projections with the Yanks & Red Sox not in on the mega FA as usual.

If Sox / Phillies are the competition and Bryce has big interest on being here Theo going under the radar might be able to get Bryce at some discount (compared to hitting FA in other years).

That combined with the likelyhood they are probably trying to dump Heyward / Chatwood aggressively. Im sure they dont want to tip their hand 100% that they HAVE to move them making trades harder.

^ reasons to holdout hope..

Theo's FA pursuits always seem to go pretty stealthily, esp as far as national media goes. Seems like after the fact we always hear (whether it's a success or not) that we were much more involved (Ohtani, Tanaka come to mind) than was being let on.

I think we just wrongly kind of expected otherwise with Harper because of all the build up.

Any truth to the Cat also predicting Soler for Davis. Read this on reddit...

If thats true thats much more highly specific & his 2nd correct forecast so might lend more to him actually knowing someone.

Again, always proceed with caution but off the top of my head havent forum posters had inside into on Theo to Cubs, Lester to Cubs, and Quintana trade?

Edit: someone else on reddit said he called the Justin Wilson trade and Cubs being in on Verlander before Astros came out on top.

The guy is from AZ, living down here ive met many players, agents, scouts, execs in restaurants and bars. Plenty winter here and of course spring training.

there are also a bunch of replies to her about heyward from a week earlier but i can't find an RT of the actual tweet she made (12/1/15).

Harper is going to be just like Yu. Rumors he was going all over the place, nobody (but the Cat) said the Cubs were in on it and then in the end the Cubs get it done.

She deletes her account like 3-4 times a year when she's harassed by people. I am not sure whether the tweets come back when you reopen it.

jesus christ it would be great if "sports reporting" was more about the reporting and less about being used to propagate leverage for the stupid front offices.

Yeah, they don't even get the favor paid back by getting to break the news when a signing does happen, because that goes to one of two national guys instead.

It’s why Mark Gonzales is one of my favorite follows for Cubs stuff. He doesn’t speculate/push things, he just reports stuff as it happens. At least on twitter.

Not to mention his elite photography skills.

Apparently my spidey senses aren't so "spidey" in this case because they're picking up that which has been heavily rumored for 18 months now, but every comment by Boras, Theo or reporting on another team's interest in Bryce seems to fit with my spidey senses that Harper wants to sign with the Cubs, and that Theo is working to find a way to make that happen while staying under $246 million total payroll if possible.

My brain keeps telling me doing so is not all that likely.

Logic keeps c-blocking my excitement...

Both MLB Network and ESPN2 just had Harper segments and the Cubs weren't mentioned once. Charles the cat must be hanging out in different, totally real Las Vegas lobbies than the national writers.
